With the announcement of the expiry of the Secure Boot certificates in 2026.

When will updated Firmware be released for our devices?
I have a 2021 Razer Blade 17” which hasn’t been offered a single update to anything since the year it was released.
I’m just wanting to check an update will be released to allow me to continue using this device with secure boot.

Microsoft’s Secure Boot certificates are set to expire in 2026, which means all OEMs (including Razer) will need to release updated UEFI firmware before that date.

If your 2021 Razer Blade 17 hasn’t received any firmware updates yet, you should keep an eye on:

Right now, Razer hasn’t announced a release timeline, but historically they tend to release BIOS/UEFI updates closer to the deadline. If you want to be 100% sure, I’d recommend:

This will also help Razer gauge demand for older models like the 2021 Blade 17.

Hello geoEerieBlackbuzz157,

Thank you for responding.

I do keep an eye on the Razer support site, hence my statement that it’s not had an update since 2021, the year it was released.
They won’t let me open a support ticket as my device is “out of limited warranty”.

I regularly get firmware updates on my HP G13 via Microsoft Update, however I’ve not had a firmware update for my Razer through that medium.
Older models? It’s less than 5 years old. My HP G13 is much older and has been far better supported than this Razer.

That’s a really good point. Since Microsoft’s Secure Boot certificates are confirmed to expire in 2026, every OEM, including Razer will eventually need to roll out updated UEFI firmware to keep devices compliant.

For the 2021 Blade 17, I’d suggest keeping an eye on the Razer Support site as well as Windows Update, since firmware updates are sometimes pushed directly through there.

If you haven’t already, it’s worth opening a support ticket and asking if your model is officially on the update schedule. That not only gives you a clearer answer but also signals to Razer that there’s ongoing demand for updates on older models.

As per my last message, I’m unable to open a support ticket as it’s no longer in it’s “limited warranty”.

I will never buy another Razer device, the support from them is terrible!

Oh come on Razer, no response from your “support” team? I can’t raise a ticket because of my “limited warranty” and yet you don’t even bother to come here and offer any support at all. Most of the links on the website which might get me to a phone number don’t work. Once again, worst support I’ve ever seen.

From a chat with Razer support on Facebook it would appear they’re completely oblivious to the whole situation:

“Apologies for the confusion. If you don't mind us asking, were there any prompts on your Razer Blade 17 regarding the expiry of the certificates? If yes, please send us a screenshot for our visibility.”

Complete and utter joke. I’d linked them the Microsoft articles and all the information they needed.

Razer support have come back saying that they won’t address this issue.
The fact my HP tablet which is much older than my Razer has had a BIOS update to address this shows which company should be supported.

Their tag should be:
By Razer for Razer, who cares about the customer?
