Hi everyone! I am experiencing a serious problem with my Razer Cobra (not a pro version) that I bought 3 years ago. I installed a synapse app right after connecting mouse to a laptop and it worked perfectly fine for all these years, but around a month ago i randomly thought of disabling the synapse auto-launch (wanted to check how it would affect the laptop performance). Since then my life turned to a nightmare.
After a couple days of me using mouse without the synapse app it started randomly turning off.
And here is a precise description of what is going on in that moment of pc being “unconscious”:
1) The cursor stops moving and my usb-connected keyboard stops reacting too
1.1) All the programms continue to read my last input (for example if i was shooting and moving when playing cs, the character would continue to shoot and run infinitely without my inputs)
1.2) Laptop’s keyboard and mousepad still work fine.
2) The mouse RGB dissapears and is seems like it’s disconnected, but in that moment it still isn’t (no windows disable sound + device manager still sees the mouse + synapse app still recognizes cobra as a connected device). The keyboard (not a razer product) still has it’s backlighting, but not reacting to input as well.
3) When I unplug the mouse I get a windows device disable sound, pc finally sees that mouse is disconnected.
3.1) All the inputs that were infinitely read by programms stop
3.2) The moment I unplug my mouse, the keyboard sends a last input I did within this period of it being “unconscious” (I can press multiple keys while my keyboard doesnt respond and It’ll send the last key I pressed. It will send that input in the moment I unplug the mouse)
Basically that’s all. After I disconnect the mouse, pc returns back to its normal state and works as it should after I reconnect my mouse (until it decides to turn off again ofc)
Important details:
- All the timings are completely random. I can get my mouse turning off right after I connect it, as well as I can get it working fine all day long (tho it never happened, max is smthn like 6 hours)
- The possibility of this event becomes much worse when computer is under load (when playing heavy games, video editing)
- Mouse cannot turn off without any input. If it stands still it will never turn off, but it can do it the exact moment I try to move it after a long pause.
- During the “unconscious” state pc doesnt respond to a ctrl+alt+del combo send by a usb-connected keyboard (read somewhere that this combo bypasses the windows usb-controller, so I guess it matters)
- Mouse works perfectly fine on every other pc, as well as every other mouse works fine on my pc
What I already tried to solve the problem:
- Uninstalling synapse, installing it again, uninstalling it with all the hidden files and registry notes (I used Revo Uninstaller), no matter what I did with the synapse soft, nothing helped me
- Also tried using some “soft for uninstalling razer drivers” that I found send by the support in some of the threads on the site.
- Tried disabling all the parameters related to “power saving” in windows, when it can disable usb ports (only in a device manager, because for some reason I dont have such option in the control panel menu)
- Clearing the device manager lists by deleting all the “non active” devices
- Updating usb controllers drivers (using device manager, it said all the drivers are correct)
- Switching usb ports that my mouse is connected in
- Rebooting pc (so sad that didn’t help)
I am begging for help 🙏. Recently the problem became so bad that it’s basically impossible to use pc.
