Smart charging/charge limiter?

I have a Razer 15 (2020) with Windows 10. The battery has swelled and been replaced once already. I assumed it was due to me having it plugged in all the time. Now I’m trying to only have it plugged in until it’s fully charged, then unplug it until it gives me the “low battery” prompt. However, this is causing *severe* performance issues with my video games when running on battery only. I’ve searched and searched and searched for help to absolutely no avail. (Also, when I have it plugged in, the place where my hands rest gets so hot that my palms sweat and it’s incredibly uncomfortable to play. Advice?)

Newer models have battery limiters in the Synapse settings- my model does not.

I’ve read that Windows 10 and 11 have “smart charging”, I cannot find any such thing in the settings and have  never noticed the “heart” on the battery icon indicating that “smart charging” is running.

Is it ok to keep my laptop plugged in while gaming for extended periods of time (3-9 hours at a time)? What can I do to stop the severe chugging/lagging during gameplay? How do I care for my new battery? I’m incredibly lost and don’t know what to do.

Thank you for your time.
