There's a known issue with certain Intel RealSense cameras and Windows 10. There are some specific troubleshooting steps that Intel has suggested for their SR300 camera, which appears to be the OEM core around which Razer built the Stargazer. Those steps had worked pretty consistently for me up until the most recent Windows 10 20H2 large update.

Depending on exactly which build of Windows 10 you're running, you may have some success with the suggestions from Intel here.

I have been using the Razer Stargazer pretty much daily for Windows Hello, video conferencing, background replacement, and FaceRig for the better part of a couple of years.

I was always quite disappointed with what appeared to be either Razer's neglect or intentional attempt to put any record of this product into a "memory hole." It was all one could do to even find the actual original Razer support site for this product. This is unfortunate as it has been one of the earliest and most accessible depth-sensing cameras on the market.

If you decide to chase down this path, you are likely to find the majority of your useful information on the Intel RealSense site. Please be advised, however, that Intel learned some things in the course of making and shipping their original F200 and SR300 cameras, and even they'll tell you that they've fixed some things in hardware in their newer models, and that there are some known issues with the original ones, of which our Razer Stargazers are siblings. I haven't tried those newer ones yet, but I may soon.

It seems that between Intel and Microsoft, some people have figured out what some of the core issue is or was, at least until this most recent Microsoft update. It appears to be centered around the order of installation and/or startup of certain components. Also, there can sometimes be an issue with the Intel RealSense Virtual Camera Driver (as distinct from the Depth Camera driver, the RGB camera driver, or the USB camera driver) not actually installing successfully.

I hope this helps some of you. It has been pretty solid for Windows Hello use except right after major Windows 10 updates for a long time. It has been a long time since I've written a device driver, but I'm about fed up enough to consider it.

Razer, if you care about cybersecurity and customer loyalty, PLEASE consider having someone take a look at the current issue with driver compatibility for the Stargazer cameras and give us a hand. We'd appreciate it. Thanks!
