Synapse 2.0 appearing working and connected with headset, but not filtering audio

Hey guys, not sure if this is specifically a problem with the headset, synapse 2.0, or my computer but i'm hoping to find an answer. Had an issue where audio wasn't working for headset (kraken 7.1 classic). synapse appeared working, ran windows audio troubleshooter to try and fix it. Troubleshooter claimed to fix it, but when the audio came back it was tinny and the sound levels were way off. seemed like suddenly audio was working but synapse had no effect? surround sound isn't working either and the calibration for the 7.1 surround via synapse 2.0 doesn't produce sound through the headset. Game audio seems off from what it was, surround not working? loud noises are WAY louder in game and sound seems generally off and warbly. Would love to get my audio settings back, I love this old headset. Edit: Already tried reinstalling synapse2.0 twice, didn't seem to fix it.
