Synapse 3.0 Microsoft .net issues - won't open, can't uninstall, can't reinstall | Razer Insider
Skip to main content

When my computer boots, I get a Microsoft .net error from Synapse saying “System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.AspNet.SignalR.Client, Version=2.2.1.”

Currently I cannot open Synapse at all. I tried to reinstall it, but the installer crashes immediately on opening. I tried to uninstall it, but the uninstaller crashes immediately on opening. I tried to run the Driver Cleanup tool, but it says that it fails.

Based on some other posts, I’ve tried a whole host of things:

  • All of the obvious stuff (running Synapse as Admin, running antivirus checks, turning antivirus off, disabling firewalls, etc. etc.)
  • Going to “modify” and then “repair” on every visual C++ install
  • Running all of the DISM image clean up commands (/CheckHealth, /ScanHealth, /RestoreHealth)
  • I tried repairing the .net framework
  • I even tried just straight up upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11, thinking that maybe if nothing else worked, that might.

But still nothing. I’m still getting the error, and I am still totally unable to open Synapse or make any edits to the Synapse install.

Anyone have any ideas, or is my only option at this point to go out and buy a non-Razer mouse?

Honestly, this has been happening to me too and I’ve tried those solutions and some I found on reddit from 4 years ago… nothing has worked. If I find anything out, I’ll lyk :(

Hey, I’ve found a solution that worked for me. Go into Installed Apps and then find Razer Synapse > right click to Modify and then select repair. I went ahead and had it reinstall all the razer apps because why not, and it fixed my problem! Hope this works for you :)
