I've reinstalled it over three times by now and nothing is working.
If you are using Windows, it could be a fault with the user registry



  • Remove Synapse from your current user profile

  • Create a new administrator login profile

  • Install Synapse under your new admin user profile


I've since fixed it with the "repair" option in the installer.
