Synapse 3 update failed, now it won't load... or update... or uninstall | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Synapse 3 updater started running earlier today while I was in the middle of a game. It failed and now Synapse won't start. I've tried updating, installing, uninstalling, and even using Microsoft's uninstall repair tool all with 0 luck. Updating the software gets 8-11% into the process then just hangs and uninstalling just perpetually spins.

I'm really hoping someone here has a suggestion as the only thing that is coming to mind for me at this point is an OS rebuild... which will make me think twice about using Razer's products in the future. I've heard people complain about Razer's drivers, but I have not had issues myself until now... and I am well past frustrated.

I am an IT professional by trade, but with luck there is something simple I just haven't thought of.

Ive had the same issues as well. have yet to see anyone from razer address the issue
I was able to fix my own issue a short while ago. Had to stop all Razer services (and disable one as it kept auto starting) then run the uninstall program. It got stuck 3/4th of the way through... after an hour of waiting I rebooted the PC and ran the uninstall again, it finished quickly and I was able to do a clean install of Synapse 3.0.

Everything is back to working fine... yet I immediately disabled automatic updates to make sure it stays that way.

I'm going to try that out. I have been having the same issues yesterday (it was like it was mocking me because whenever I pressed FN it showed my old chroma that I really like the look of LoL).

You have to make sure the services are stopped. Killing the programs won't do the trick. From a search window type services and open the Services app. Sort by name and find the Razer services (going off memory, there are 3-5 total) and make sure they are all stopped. There will be at least one that will restart automatically, for that one you will need to double click on it and select the dropdown and set it to disabled

Update: Finally got it to uninstall. Was able to download synapse from the website no problem now. Sucks having to go thru all this trouble. Thanks for the help
Fooly, which process was the one that opens up twice?

update: Oh my lord, thank you all. Both Foolywolf and NadisPrime, y'all real ones.
