Synapse fried my Viper 8k memory, corrupted the device | Razer Insider
Skip to main content

So I added a macro to one of my mouse buttons and when I restarted the PC suddenly Windows did not recognize my Viper 8k anymore. Even when I removed every driver and software with the tool, the Viper 8k remains corrupted.

When I plug it into the USB slot, there is no device added sound, but the sensor flashes blue/white rapidly. When I press all 3 mouse buttons, the device added sound pops up, but the flashing sensor light turns off. RGB always off. Under devices windows thinks the Viper is plugged into my Huntsmanv2 keyboard.

When I plug the mouse into a different PC it installs the razer bootloader, but has the exact same issue.

I can’t reset the mouse to factory settings, it is not recognized as a mouse, it is not recognized in synapse, it is not recognized by the firmware updater software and Razer support refuses to hear about the problem because my warranty ran out 2 months ago, they seem to not care that their software corrupts their hardware.

If I were them, I’d want to get my hands on the mouse to read out the memory and re-engineer the problem and fix it. Now I can’t buy a new Razer mouse because their software can’t be trusted and I don’t want to support them when I can’t even reach their support to make them aware of this blatant issue with their software which could cost them a lot of money lol.

I had bought custom gliders imported from China for it. Already tried a Corsair Sabre which is unusuable because their LOD is 0.01mm and you can’t set it manually and the Zaunkönig is probably instantly sold out for at least half a year, so I am without a FPS mouse indefinately or have to play with a Logitech that I don’t really want.

Thank you Razer
