Tartarus Pro - D-pad and small round button stopped working

I am having an issue where suddenly the d-pad and small round button no longer function on my Tartarus Pro. All other buttons, including button 20, work fine. I've tried uninstalling Razer Synapse and Central, removing %PROGRAMDATA%/Razer, and reinstalling but this didn't help. I've reset my profile and the keybinds and rebound them, but that also doesn't help. I want to say I've been having this issue since around the time I upgraded in place from Windows 10 to Windows 11, but that could just be a coincidence. I'd think it might be a hardware failure, except it seems odd that I'd lose all four d-pad directions and the little thumb button next to it at the same time, and for no reason (no spills, no drops / things dropped on it, etc.) Does anyone have any ideas? I didn't expect this thing to have issues barely two years after I bought it...

The exact same thing is happening to me with my Tartarus Pro. I was on a trip for about 3 days with my PC off and when I got back I turned on my PC and the dpad and circle button were not working at all while all the other keys work fine.

This happened to me just now…

The only thing I changed regarding my pc is that I turned off fast boot.

After a reboot the d-pad + the small button dont function anymore. Tried multiple reboots, complete off and on. Turned fast boot back on. Nothing…

Guess It'll return it unless someone has a solution? Thanks in advance.

I know this is resurrecting a dead thread but I just ran into a very similar issue. It turned out that when I synced actuation point to all keys, it breaks the D-Pad because they don’t have actuation points. As far as I can tell, there is no way to use custom keybinds for the D-pad on that keymap again; creating a new keymap works.

Same issue

From testing I have found that if you add keybinds to the d-pad it works but once i add a keybind to the main kad keys it stops working

I encountered the same problem, 08/06/2025 everything worked, 08/07 the d pad stopped working in the binding of buttons to the keyboard. When adding a new profile, the buttons are bound, but if you change the standard buttons on the keyboard block, they will be reset, although they are assigned, they work by default.

I found the exact same result as you from my own testing today. Also, you cannot rebind the thumbpad after binding any other key on the device, although Synapse will pretend as if the keys are bound. I even had Razer staff on chat for 2 hours to help me fix and reinstall everything, even getting Windows to run DISM, but to no avail. Synapse will not BUDGE!
(This basically stops me gaming on any game that doesn’t support movement via digital joystick, as with my left hand having reduced coordination, the Tartarus is basically a disability aid if I don’t want to be forced onto a controller.)

From what I’m seeing in earlier posts, this appears to be an issue on Razer’s end, so I’ll touch grass with crossed fingers for as long as it takes for them to fix it, or for me to find and afford an alternative product, as I cannot use WASD the normal way.

Incidentally, Synapse refuses to import any profiles, and also loses track of which profile is which, with “DESKTOP-1TS1E9B-Default” having the same bindings after reinstall as previously reset and deleted custom profiles, again with no thumbpad bindings working, but Synapse displaying as if they are. Does anyone else have this weird little comorbid glitch, or just with the pad itself?

With last update RS4  is great glitch as usually. +1.

Then i will be requesting a refund as it is unworkable and no support from Raser

Got the same issues with the DPAD losing bindings although pretending to have them as well as the whole confusion with the profiles. Ended deleting everything, rebinding, still a mess, does not work!

Very annoying, dont they test their own products before releasing a new synapse?!?

I can verify this works, but man… that’s SO ANNOYING to RESET ALL MY KEY BINDINGS!!!!!!!!!

As others have mentioned, this looks like a bug. Any buttons that don’t support the actuation feature immediately die/default (without telling you) if a button with actuation is mapped, like buttons 04 or 05. This uh, pretty much makes the entire product completely useless. I submitted a ticket with Razer.

I have tried all different methods to fix the issue myself (new profile, new keymap, new drivers, etc.) but even if I map the Dpad first, it will always revert to the arrow keys (with no indicator). I guess one way of getting around this is changing the keybinds in your game from WASD to up-down-left-right. Doesn’t fix button 20 or the round button thingy, though. Not sure about the scroll wheel.

Switch to synapse 3 and it works so had to go through the pain of making macros and profiles again so thank you Razer

Same here.

Wow, i just noticed this thread is about 2 years old and now we got the same issue

I contacted the service, but they just give me instructions with all the steps (restart PC, repair the software, reinstall...bla bla bla...)

I should use the Razer Log Collector, but i never received the email with the required link, so i wasn`t able to use this tool.

after i`ve done ALL of the instructions, i found THIS thread and tried the configuration with the 8 way keypad, well it works, but just semi optimal. In my opinion this is not a solution, just temporary emergency solution.

I hope Razer will fix this issue with a patch soon.

Just chipping it to say I had the same thing happen to me, thumb button and d-pad all not working, razer software is truly another level of cheeks.

Razer synapse 3 or 4 none worked...
