Tartarus Pro keyswitch replacement | Razer Insider
Skip to main content

I really enjoy using my Tartarus Pro for MMORPGs (FFXIV, GW2) as well as many isometric games. But recently while it was in my luggage during a flight, the “spacebar” key (aka button #20) broke off at the cross-peg. Using the controller in this state is not impossible, it is incredibly inconvenient.

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was any way either hA] repair the broken cross-peg on the switch after extracting it from the keycap, or B] some way to outright replace the keyswitch to not have to deal with a slightly haphazard end result of a fix.

Thank you for your time, I’m open to any suggestions since I’m thinking about re-subbing to FFXIV and would like to not learn how to play FFXIV on a controller.

Were you able to replace the key? I have the same issue

Hi sorry for the relayed reply! Unfortunately I did not get a direct solution, and haven’t followed through with trying to properly fix it since my MMO guilds kinda dissipated.

I did manage to find an online listing for “Sardfxul Red Optical Switches for Razer Huntsman Elite Gaming Mechanical Keyboard 4 Pieces Keyboard Accessories” that I have bought but haven’t installed. I have a friend who used to work at a tech repair store that I was going to consult with to see if they thought they could solder it together, but I haven’t felt the need to use the device in a while.

tl;dr - It seems like there’s third-party retailers that sell identical switches, but I have yet to attempt to install them from lack of motivation.

I have the same problem , my number 20 key is broken as well.  Mine was because a deodorant container fell and hit it from about 2 feet up.  I can still us the key as long as I am just pressing it but if I hit it from the side or from underneath, it easily pops off.

Look folks, this is the issue, companies create these great products, but they do not want you to fix them. It’s literally almost with any electronics company on the planet, and then they create a new product to upgrade the old product and parts pretty much at this point impossible to find. Back in the day (late 70’s early 80’s) there used to be these great stores that would sell almost anything you needed. However, because the way they make stuff now, you just throw it away and buy a new one. I personally have a TarTarus Pro that needs a new cable, but can I find it NO, Can I order it NO. My only option is to litter the planet yet again, and buy a new one, or mod this one to use a standard USBC detachable cable so that if it breaks again I just replace the USBC Cable. however, I do not have the tools to do these types of modifications. The bigger issue is this, profit and loss, and if you do not show these numbers to investors then they see it as a failing company.. even if your making money. People need to really start allowing companies to provide these services and not affect their bottomline in the way it’s affecting it now. Otherwise, we will never get a grasp on our waste, climate change, recycle, well anything for that matter. We will just end up with more trash than anything. I know this sounds like some save the planet speech, but it’s not, I’m older and who knows how much time I have left, plan for the future not for the present.

Please excuse all the errors in punctuation, but I am also tired of paying a HUGE amount of money to fix it LOL.OK I'm done now ranting:)

I think I will just try and find a used one somewhere and  cannibalize it for what I need.
