THE CURSE OF SYNAPSE: A Tale of Unending Frustration and Disappointment | Razer Insider
Skip to main content

Hello everyone. I have a BlackShark V2 USB Card Sound headset and a clean Windows 10 installation, which I recently reinstalled. I've been struggling with the support service for about a month, but they haven't provided any results. I have a very common problem with the Synapse program. The program detects my headset and it works, but Synapse itself doesn't work at all. Nothing in it functions. Let's start with THX sound: when I switch the sound button, the sound remains in stereo, i.e., it doesn't work. Then there's the equalizer, which also doesn't work, no matter how I try to switch and adjust settings, but the sound doesn't change at all. Next, the microphone, and it's the same story: none of the settings work, not even the volume, and the "listen to microphone" button doesn't even turn on.

5 days ago, I tried the trial version of THX SPATIAL AUDIO, and the THX drum sound worked, the sound changed, and I was over the moon with joy, which means that my headset and system are fine.

Let's move on to the support service, which hasn't helped me at all. All the bot told me to do was to uninstall, reset, and set the default speakers. Then the bot asked me to provide a video showing how the program doesn't work and the Synapse and THX logs. I sent everything on the same day and waited, receiving messages from Razer that my logs were being checked and an answer would be provided within 3 days. 5 days passed, and I received a letter saying that they were waiting for my response, and if I didn't provide it (but I didn't know what I was supposed to write, since I was waiting for their response), my case would be closed with the note "Problem Solved". I couldn't respond to them because I was very busy, and I wrote back a week later. I wrote everything exactly the same and sent the logs again, thinking that it would help them to resolve the issue faster, and then there will be screenshots.

In the end, it's just a headset. But it's the principle that matters. And when a company like Razer, with all its resources and expertise, can't get it right, it's frustrating.
