Thresher 7.1 (PS4) - firmware update issue | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
Hello,

I'm trying to update the firmware on my Thresher 7.1 (PS4) after not using it for a while but when hitting the "Update" button on the firmware updater from Razer (this one - https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1649/~/razer-thresher-7.1-for-ps4-firmware-updater-%7C-rz04-02230) - I'm getting an error saying "Firmware update failed. Please reconnect your device and click retry".

I've re-downloaded the file several times, tried diferent USB ports, ran the updater as admin, rebooted etc. but nothing seems to help. When contacting the Razer support one of the feedback question I've got was "First off, may we know why you wanted to update the firmware on your device?" so I think I'm not going to bother with the support process...

Did anyone else had a similar issue and managed to fix it somehow ? Couldn't find any solution myself so far.

thanks!
If you don't mind, can you send me your ticket number? That way, I can review your case and your previous interaction with our Support Team. Anyways, does your headset still get detected in the Device Manager? For now, let's uninstall your headset drivers.

-Press Windows + S on your keyboard to open the Search bar.

-Type in “Device Manager” and hit Enter.

-Go to Keyboards

-Right-click on the Razer device in question and select Uninstall device.

-Go to Human Interface devices.

-Right-click on the Razer device in question and select Uninstall device.

-To completely uninstall the drivers, restart your computer.

The drivers will automatically reinstall after your computer restarts. But if the issue persists, PM me the serial number of your headset. That way, I can verify its model and look for other possible solutions. Let's continue from there.
