THX Spacial Audio Controller Crossfade help

So I have a USB thx spacial sound audio controller with volume buttons, mute, and the crossfade switch. Recently I upgraded from a laptop to a desktop. When I was on my laptop, setting everything up took a while to learn, but I never had any problems with it, my settings were as follows.

Default Audio: THX

Game Audio: enabled, not default

Chat audio: enabled, not default

Everything else was disabled.

Now with this new computer, I tried to apply the same settings, but there is a new default option, default communications device. Whether it's related or not, I can't get my crossfade switch to work anymore, I usually set my music to chat and game to game so that I can fade between the two with the switch, but now the switch just acts as a volume switch for both chat and game audio channels simultaneously.

I've tried using THX as default audio, game as default audio, both of which with chat being default communications device, but nothing seems to be working. I've updated my drivers and tried using both a USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 port.

I don't know why it's happening but I feel like it's something to do with the default communications device settings.

Update: I have found out how to stop anything from being a default communications device, and now I have my old settings going again, but now when I attempt to assign an app to the Chat audio, although settings says it has been assigned to chat, control panel still shows the sound being played through the game audio channel. I'm going to attempt to do a fresh Synapse installation and see if that helps.
