Trackpad stopped working. Razor Blade Pro 17 | Razer Insider

Hi..

I have an out of warranty Razor Blade Pro that has a trackpad problem. The trackpad stopped working long time ago. I can move the mouse cursor but the buttons don't work. Not o100% sure if this is a Windows 10/Razor config issue, or if it's actually hardware.

You should be able to click the trackpad with a light touch- Is your battery swelling at all/how old is your machine? If your battery begins to swell even just slightly, it will put pressure on the bottom of the trackpad andf make it hard or even impossible to click.

I had a simailar issue- I caught the battery starting to swell before it did any damage to the pc (noticed the trackpad was really hot and harder to click than i remembered)

After a quick swap for an aftermarket battery, my trackpad was back to normal.

Hope this helps... good luck!
I don't "see" any physical issues. Nothing looks swollen, but then this thing is built like a tank soo... ;)

Unable to press on the top corners, but I would suspect this is how it is engineered. But down at the bottom corners, yes. The left side feels normal, however the right side feels like something "could" have come loose??? It presses down further than the left side. Plus makes a slight noise as if something is rubbing against each other as it moves.

Based on the product number, it's this one.

Not being able to depress on the top or top corners of the trackpad is normal, but you should be able to click it about halfway down and the click should be consistent across the pad.

Turn the laptop off and let it cool completely. Does the trackpad feel any different that when it's been running hard for a couple hours? If so, could be the battery, but also could be a strucutral or mounting issue with the trackpad.

Are you comfortable taking the back off and removing the battery to inspect the trackpad? It's not particularly difficult, but does require some specific tools.
It's sitting cold right now, have not had it on since last night. I will have to turn it on and let it warm up to see if it feels different. I'll get back to you on that.

I don't mind taking it apart, but I don't have the right star driver for the screws. Anyone know of hand what exact size this star heads are?
I believe they're T5 on the bottom, but I would double check for your model-

Awesome. I seriously doubt I have one this size down in the garage, but I will check. If not, I'll run to lowes or home depot after work.
