Viper Ultimate 2.4GHz dongle disconnects and reconnects every ~1 second, works fine wired

Hi everyone,

My Razer Viper Ultimate's wireless dongle has started disconnecting and reconnecting approximately every 1 second in a continuous loop. The mouse is completely unusable in wireless mode, though it works perfectly fine when connected via cable.

Issue details:

  • The dongle connects and disconnects in a ~1s cycle (constant Windows USB plug/unplug sound)
  • Wired mode works flawlessly
  • Razer Synapse intermittently detects/loses the mouse

What I've tried (none worked):

  • Plugged the dongle directly into rear motherboard USB ports (both 2.0 and 3.0)
  • Removed dongle from the charging dock, plugged directly into PC
  • Clean reinstall of Razer Synapse (tried both 3 and 4)
  • Uninstalled USB drivers in Device Manager and let Windows reinstall
  • Tested on a completely different PC — same issue
  • Mouse is fully charged
  • Changed "Wireless Power Saving" to 5 mins (not 0)
  • Disabled USB Selective Suspend in Windows power settings
  • Attempted firmware update — fails because dongle won't stay connected long enough

System:

  • Windows 11 23H2
  • Razer Synapse 4 (also tried 3)
  • Latest firmware (prior to this issue)

Since the issue persists across different PCs, I suspect the dongle itself may be defective. My questions:

  1. Are there any other troubleshooting steps I can try?
  2. Is it possible to purchase a replacement dongle from Razer?
  3. Can the Razer Pairing Utility help if the dongle won't stay connected?

Thanks for sharing the details and troubleshooting steps that you have performed. It does seem that the wireless USB dongle of your mouse is already defective. Can you send me a PM with the serial number together with your location/country so I can verify it in our system and check our inventory?
