Hello,

I recently purchased a Razer Viper V3 Pro Gengar Limited Edition from Facebook Marketplace. The mouse was completely brand new and sealed. I have been using it for two days, but encountered an issue on the first day while using it in wireless mode. Specifically, I received a “USB device not recognized” error message in Windows, and the error listed in Device Manager is: “Unknown USB Device (Descriptor Request Failed).”

I have attempted all common troubleshooting solutions for this error, basically anything thats searchable

  • Enabling and disabling USB controller drivers.
  • Updating and reinstalling drivers.
  • Uninstalling the device and allowing Windows to reinstall it upon reboot.
  • Disconnecting all USB devices and performing a system reset.
  • Plugging the mouse directly into the PC, bypassing any USB hubs.
  • Testing the mouse on multiple systems.

Despite following all recommended steps, the issue persists. Notably, when I plug the mouse into my PC, Razer Synapse detects the Viper V3 Pro correctly. This suggests that the issue is not with the mouse or its cable, as Synapse recognizes it without problem.

In an effort to resolve this, I purchased a new HyperPolling wireless dongle from a local tech store. While Razer Synapse detects the new dongle and allows me to access the pairing utility, it fails to pair with the mouse. Despite several attempts and different variations of the pairing process, the mouse is never found. Additionally, when using the pairing utility tool, the mouse is detected, but the process fails to complete when the HyperPolling dongle is plugged in.

I have exhausted all troubleshooting steps I could find and am now at a loss. My old mouse is deteriorating, and I upgraded to the Viper V3 Pro in hopes of future-proofing my setup, only to encounter these issues.

Could you please assist me in resolving this problem? Any guidance on additional steps I may have missed or potential hardware issues would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
