Volume problems with Razor Kraken TE

Hi all, I know that there have been some threads on this topic already, but the solution there didn't work for me. As many others I am also struggling with the volume on my Kraken TE - it's just too soft even at top volume. Considering the price of these headphones it's incredibly frustration. I've tried everything from various other threads:

• Reinstalled Synapse several times
• Turned the switch from chat to headphones
• Increased the volume to max on the remote
• Tried without the remote
• Enabled / Disabled THX
• Reinstalled the drivers
• Checked volume options for applications

None of this worked for me... Sometimes I can hear the volume go soft as I'm listening to music. It also sounds like the right side is softer than the left. Am I meant to be on "Chat" or "Game" for default device? Only "Chat" works for me, the rest of the sound options are dead (including THX). What else can I do to try and fix this?
