Will my Razer Blade be damaged if I closed the screen while docking?

I am currently using an external monitor with my Blade (2019 - RTX 2070MaxQ). I have the screen open because I use it as my secondary, but after a while I realized there are just too many screens to look at, and I want to just keep it closed to keep my desk tidy. I notice that every time I play any amount of games, the area near the top part of my keyboard would get really hot. If I decide to close the screen and keep it to the side on my desk, will this cause any kind of damage to the laptop? I would really appreciate a professional and/or first-hand input.
