windows 10 update failure

My system failed to update to Window 10 update 2004 with an 0x800703f1 error. Microsoft can't help other than to say System Restore. Tried to do a System Restore and THAT failed too. Not really happy with my Razor Blade 17 (2017) right now, because it's a boat anchor. It shipped with Windows 8. If I do a Razer System Restore (and that actually works), then I am back to Windows 8 and I have to upgrade to Windows 10. Since it was a "freebie", does that mean I will have to pay for a Win 10 license? Any help would be greatly appreciated. No Windows updates, driver updates or even printer installs are working currently. So frustrating.
