I am having an issue upgrading to windows 11 Pro from the included Home edition. My license is valid however upon installation the Windows drive disappears. Once I get this solved I am able to boot into Windows. However the latest updates from Microsoft cause the hard drive to again become unreadable.

I have tried disabling secure boot and VBS. Apparently there is a conflict with TPM certificates renewing with the latest Windows patch. This laptop has not had a firmware or bios update since last year. Anyone had any luck getting this to upgrade to windows 11 pro without breaking the OS?

I’ve upgraded this model from Windows 11 Home to Pro multiple times and never ran into the drive disappearing or the OS breaking after updates. So it doesn’t seem to be a general issue with the laptop itself.

Occasionally Windows activation or upgrade servers have temporary problems — the upgrade might fail at that moment, but trying again later usually works without changing any BIOS settings. I never had to disable Secure Boot, VBS, or touch TPM certificates.

My suggestion would be to activate Pro through Settings → Activation → Change product key instead of relying on the full reinstall path. If it fails, don’t force it — just retry later. Most users who had similar issues reported that it eventually went through once the update/activation servers stabilized.

On my device Windows 11 Pro runs completely stable, including after the latest patches, so this looks more like a temporary Windows update conflict rather than a hardware or firmware problem.
