Balde 15 Base Model - M.2 nvme SSD Interface
Hello,
im affraid this has been asked before, but I could not find an answer to my question, so my apoligies
if so.
I bought the Blade 15 base @ 256GB SATA nvme ssd + 2 TB HDD. I now plane to upgrade the SSD but couldn find any sepcs to the m.2 socket, if it can handle ssd drives with higher bandwith as SATA 3 speaking of pciex4.
So in short:
Can the Blade Base Model with its m.2 socket handle nvme drives via pcie x4 @ 3.xxx GB/s isntead of SATA 3 @ max 5XX MB/s ?

You have already nvme on that model, there’s no sata nvme ssd, either nvme or sata. So the answer yes.
You Are wrong. - Just watch your Image (Massenspeicher/ Deutsch hm ?)
It says "128 GB SSD (SATA-III).
A M.2 Socket can provide either SATA protocol or connect via pci-e x1<->4.
Depending on if it is a Socket B- or M- Key (5 or 6 Pin) it can Provide either SATA, pcie or Both.
M-Connector with 5 Pins seems to provide both:
For what I found out - Thre Blade Base Model has a 5 Pin-Connector aka M-Key Socket.
This should result in being able to run at pciex4.

Cheaper 128gb comes with sata and after that I marked is with nvme, sata is slower with max 600MB/s and and later is depends on brand for example 970Evo is around 3GB/s I’m talking about reading speed. About socket idk quite specific, but your Blade capable to run both Sata and nvme.

I bought the one with 256 ... So I was lucky one could say.
I installed the new drive and tested.
Here are the results:

Rated Read 3.300 MB/s | Write 2.500 MB/s
So it seems to be performing within range :)
