Blade 14 (2022) won't power on when power LED blinks green (screen off)

Hello,

I'll also reach out to support today when they open up. Asking the forum if this is expected behavior before deciding to return the unit to Best Buy store.

Bought Blade 14 2022 edition (with RTX 3070 Ti) from Best Buy "few days ago". So far so good, except for following odd symptom while laptop is on power supply and set in Windows 11 to not go to sleep but set to have display turn off after 15 minutes.

Following happened several times already:

Power LED blinks green, because screen off

But screen does not come on after moving mouse, track pad movement or keyboard. Even depressing the power button does nothing.

Only way to get the laptop to come on is by depressing the power button for extended seconds. But that will turn off and turn laptop back on, which causes Windows 11 to "restart", losing my work.

The laptop has no BIOS update.

Is there known issue with Blade 14 2022, where screen goes off, blinks green but gets stuck and will not come back on, without reset the laptop? Whether it's' Windows 11 fault or combination of it and Blade 14, this is not what i had expected from a premium gaming system.

Sorry to hear your inconvenience. Green led means your system on but monitor off like when you’re using external monitor, second display only mode. I’m not sure about the issue since Blade 14 has mux switch where nvidia gpu take control the display (unlike last year mode), maybe check nvidia controller panel or synapse and switch between existing mode and see if the problem still exist. That’s could be also drivers related things from windows version, nvidia drivers etc.

I am having the same issue as well and I do not have an secondary monitor

Having same problem. Sent laptop back to get repaired and it worked for a couple of days then problem is now happened again.

P.S. This problem also occurs after resuming from hibernation mode.

Having this issue to in November 2023, I cant get it to boot at all! Anyone had this issue and the laptop not want to boot what so ever? Just flashing green no matter what i do removed battery + removed bios battery nothing helps sadly.

I’m having the same issue November 2023. My laptop was working fine yesterday and today it won’t turn on. The power LED is flashing green as if in sleep mode but it will not turn on whatsoever. I have tried resetting, forced shutdown, everything and it simply will not turn on.

November 2023, also having this issue now out of the blue. Had the machine a month, worked great yesterday and today will not power the screen on. Keyboard led's all firing up no issue. Any fix?

December 2023, experienced the same problem. After restarting about 10 times, decided to fully turn off and unplug for like 5 mins. Screen turned on after. Hope this helps anyone

I’m experiencing the same problem right now. I was working and left my screen on for a bit and suddenly it turned off (went to sleep mode) i tried bringing it back up but wouldn't come back. The green light is blinking when I press the power button on but the fans and the screen are not responding. Was this the same which happened to you? I really need some help right now because I have to submit some stuff for my university tomorrow and this could’ve been the worst time possible for my laptop to act out like this. If someone can help me out please do. I’ll leave my instagram in here too : @adityakamotra

I think I found a solution to the problem. When hibernating, you need to wait for the moment when the led stops flashing green, and only after that close the lid of the laptop.

So really awkwardly the FIX for me was to remove the smart watch charge I had on the laptop...it's magnets where making the laptop think the lid was shut and it went into hibernation mode...fooled me for longer than I care to say.
