Core X Chroma & Razer Blade Pro 17" 2017 questions

I have a Razer Blade Pro 17" 4K with the 1080, 32 gigs of ram I believe the 2017. I am wondering (hoping) that I can run the Core X Chroma either with another 1080 to double my power for rendering oR just outright blast off with utilizing an RTX 2080 Ti as I have one in my desktop. It would bring my portable travel work game to the next level.

I realize you cant run an RTX and GTX card together as one powerhouse. What are my options?

Thanks!

Razer Core is an enclosure to turn an ultrabook into a beast. You’ve already a beast from 2017 machine. Theoretically you can bump gpu performance with an egpu enclosure but it’s not worth from the money you’re spending imo and I saw quite user having an issue pairing gaming laptop with egpu especially Blade Pro which user g sync tech where (I think) the igpu is locked due the tech, and this igpu is important to egpu users switching the gpu and mostly it controlls the internal display on optimus and ultrabook (when switching to d/igpu, after using egpu).
To be more specific: My intention is to purchase another RTX 2080ti. I already have one in my desktop and it is built up to receive another. If I were to load one into an (egpu which the core x chroma is) can I either match the 1080 for rendering (2x 1080 for redshift and octaine) or atp, only use the RTX 2080ti with the RBP 4K 17" 2017? My main focus is for rendering and working in C4D as my workflow is majorly limited with just the 1080 when I travel. Thanks!

In egpu setting there’s no sli or nvlink setting. There’s some works like cuda work which I am not really quite specified and one game so far I know that take advantage for using dual gpu on this setting. And before that on Blade Pro with g sync tech you should configure the connection since it’s not as easy as ultrabook and optimus gaming TB3 egpu connection like Blade stealth and Blade 15. So I don’t think it’s worth the try, but you can however try that.
I use Blade 15 advantage 2018 pairing with xc 2080 on corev2, and in some cases like 1080p or using it on internal display, the 1070dgpu on some titles outperform rtx 2080. The advantage are when I play at 4K on external display for avoiding data loop from enclosure and reduce TB3 limited bandwidth, and due internal dgpu 1070 off and fans can concentrate to cpu, there’s huge cpu thermal improvement like around 20 degrees.
