Dumb question - USB-C vs. Thunderbolt

I have some USB-C drives, does it matter if I plug them into the "thunderbolt" port or the actual USB-C port? I know both work, but I think I'm seeing different performance out one over the other? btw, I have a 2019 Razer Blade advanced where the right side as the thunderbolt port and the left has the USBc

    Should work on either, though I believe you may see increased data speeds on the Thunderbolt port.

    Bandwidth of Thunderbolt 3 is 40Gbps whereas USB-C 3.0 is 5Gbps and 3.1 is 10Gbps
