Extending RB15 2019 Battery Life

I just got my RB15 Advanced RTX 2080 and it is definitely the best gaming laptop right now, totally mindblown. The only issue I have is with the battery life of the laptop, when on battery mode and power saving mode I am only getting 2 hours max (based on the battery settings notification). I tried tweaking around with ThrottleStop but not much improvement on battery life. How much battery life are you guys getting with the RB15 and is this normal? If you have other solutions, please post too. Thanks

Do you have HWinfo64 Screenshot? Take a look at battery discharge, more than 10 watt on battery saver it is worse, 2 hours mark maybe you’re around -30 watt discharge rate, triple times that it should (80 Watt battery capacity on Optimus laptop usually means 6 hours paperwork, it depends though if software doesn’t ruin that). Maybe some background apps or Windows Update process ruined that.

Took a picture of the usage of battery below and not sure why the discharging rate is very high..

Do you have cortona installed? Deactivate or uninstall it if you have, and try look at discharging rate. Try same thing with other apps, especially 3rd apps that you can see in hidden tab (usually on bottom right panel with arrow mark). Note also at first weeks because windows update (optimus Switch gpu maybe not working well) and other optimization to the new environment, battery mark may be not accurate, sometimes you should finish all updates first before get maximum battery life. Undervolting (you tried it already maybe), reducing brightness and refresh rate may also bump the battery life.

I have made sure to disable Cortona and also my battery life has been pretty unstable. 1 min it says 5 hours battery life and the other times, about 2 hours. :*(

What do you have on this arrow mark, try to delete it one by one. How long do you have the Blade?

Not much, just Windows Defender, Razer Central, Nvidia Geforce Experience, Origin, Thunderbolt Software, Intel Rapid Storage Technology. My blade is only a week old.. using the RTX 2080.

Rise support ticket, in case you get bad unit, and see in following weeks if it doesn’t change. I got also bad battery life (3 to 4 hours) on first weeks, that almost wanted me to exchange it since i saw one YouTuber mentioned similar things like you and his replacement was seemly fine. But by checking HWinfo64 with closing apps per apps I found the culprit that eat my battery by almost 20 watt, it was this software, but I need it for my Razer Core setting so when I’m on go I close it, i don’t need Razer Core on the go anyway:smile_:

Have you looked at Windows' "what apps are draining my battery"? I find it helpful
