How do I check if the graphic card is RTX 2060 Max-Q and not RTX 2060? | Razer Insider
Skip to main content
My Razer supposedly has a RTX 2060 Max-Q, but I've checked on the device manager that says it's a "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060", how can I verify if the model has a Max-Q?
Not sure if this will be different but maybe. Right click on desktop, Nvidia Control Panel.

Then System Information and see what GPU it says on the window that pops up.

Hi Armor_152,

Thanks a lot. I've checked and it still says "RTX 2060" without Max-Q. I've checked with the store and apparently they made a mistake on the sticker labeling, so it is RTX 2060. Quite a mistake since it was from an official Razer store.

Interesting can you upload the picture? Blade 15 2060 is not maxq Version, it’s mobile version rtx 2060, better than maxq version.
Hi,

Do you know how much improvement is the 2070 over 1070/1080

Yea, so it should be a bad mistake in sticker labelling by the store.

Sorry I didn’t think it’s 2020 model, it’s not mistake then, 2060maxq was released on mobile this year for example on Asus Zephyrus g14, their budget laptop series. Before in 2019 was only mobile (lower frequency) and higher max P version, nvidia makes too many versions on rtx model.

Well I’m not sure how else to verify then besides opening the laptop, but no intention of doing that. But the store did tell me it was a labelling issue as well, and there isn’t a maxq version for this model with rtx 2060.. and the device manager shows it as well. Device manager would say something like “RTX 2060 with max-q design” if it was indeed one.

Try run 3Dmark like timespy or Firestrike, if you don’t have any the free demo from steam can run it just fine and it’ll recognize and classify your gpu on the result if you compare it online. I heard they, nvidia even confused by naming when firstly rtx2060 mobile out, they put maxq on 2070 and 2080 for thin light categories but not on 2060, after sometime they released max p for 2060 for higher clock frequency. However I remember when Blade 15 advanced 2060 first release back in early 2019 this model was sitting on top 3Dmark ranking that made other brands want to flash the gpu bios for getting same performance with Blade 15. Maybe if it comes to base model they put maxq version or nvidia make update to classify rtx 2060 mobile in 2020, I might be wrong that’s only my assumption, however you can try 3Dmark with the best performance you can pull out and maybe I can try to classify it. It’ll be nice if you can provide HWinfo64 to show how high is gpu frequency and tdp for more accurate assumption.
What did you find out? MaxQ or not? I’m trying to decide whether to buy the 2020 base model, and Razer’s site lists 2060 with no reference to MaxQ, as does BestBuy (where I was planning to buy). I don’t want MaxQ.
