Hey everyone i'm happy to announce I received my Blade today! I will do my best to answer questions about it. Hopefully this thread gets some traction so we can use is as an information thread/comparison thread. Post pictures when you get your Blade etc. Let the games begin!

This is a decent result, with a better thermal paste work this laptop should be unbeatable:)
Another result with not bad thermal. @Firebat246 i think now is Magic score is on 14,5K:)
PS: Anyone need Blade 14 2017;)

Alright guys well I played a decent amount of Farcry 5 and Battlefield 1 last night and I was sitting between 90-100c on the CPU. I actually think its a bad CPU to be honest. Could it be bad paste job? Sure but less likely seeing as they would have picked up on this during QC. I even undervolted -.125mv and still was over 90c. The gpu almost never hit 80c and was usually around 75c. I am chalking this one up to a bad Intel CPU. Thankfully I have been dealing with the Razer team the past 12 hours sending in screenshots etc to help them out. I will do a Firestrike test anyways for you guys to see what I get.
I want to note.. that even with the CPU running as hot as it was.. I still didn't dip below 60-80 fps on Ultra settings for both games. And that still is with thermal throttling as the CPU was fluctuating from 2.2ghz to 4ghz. No crashes or BSOD's etc. I will end up putting better paste on my Blade either way.. but this is not simply a bad paste job. More info to come!

YoungStarDCWhen a CPU goes bad or is bad.. It can literally happen just like that. All things considered my machine runs great. The build quality/screen.. everything is sound. I have owned TONS of PC's and Laptop's. I have had a 5 thousand dollar laptop with GTX 980 sli. You name it I have used it. So I don't point fingers as fast as some do.
Yikes, I'm worried and still can't make a decision..

@Firebat246 Thanks for all the info you have given thus far for testing and results. I'm sold on buying one in the near future. We all will stay tuned to your results of what it might be that's giving your CPU a hard time.
Edit: Was your 5000 laptop an MSI GT80 series by chance? Very close to what I spent for mine, then sold it to my cousin just last year which was a 980 SLI. Miss that very much :)

surfer1081It was actually a Clevo custom built from a company called Mythlogic. They are horrible now and not to be trusted... if they didn't already go out of business. I had a lot of issues with my machine and when I finally got it fixed I sold it.

Firebat246Well I need to choose between the Blade and the Zephyrus M (Full 1070 - G-Sync). Got some insight?

YoungStarDCI have heard of a-lot of throttling issues with the Zephyrus. I haven't really looked into it because I don't like how the bottom opens and how flimsy it feels with the flex. I also don't want the bottom of my laptop open because who knows what can find its way in there.

YoungStarDCPlus Zephyrus: Hybrid G sync and Optimus, but in term battery life it’s useless since the battery capacity only 55watt, when I’m not wrong. Better full 1070, but with gaming mode Blade 15, it’ll be no a big difference. 2 years guarantee I think. Plus Blade 15: 2018 Bezel thickness 2018 thin gaming laptop weight 2,1kg Don’t need dusting every month because bottom cover is closed. Display port. Users friendly parts upgrade. Better battery life. Better rgb lightning, now logo could be turned off also on FHD, not only touch screen one like before. Sick design (personally) all aluminum unibody like MacBook...married with xps...in Africa dessert that made it black;), could be also be used for formal situations. Bad from both: Price;) Some Blade 15 cpu temperature is quite high, Zephyrus is as well high.

For those wondering here is my best Firestrike score. Clearly there is an issue with my CPU... the GPU scores were good.

Firebat246Yes it is. How high was the cores temperature during the test? Btw can you give me a favor to show size difference between it and Blade 14 from above, I’ve Armor case 14 and curious if it could fit Blade 15, so i don’t need to sell it if I sell my Blade 14 for 15.

I am really interested in this laptop, its only the CPU thermals that worry me. I will wait more reactions from other buyers to see if this will be the temps Razer planned or it is faulty pasting of some units.

JoikansaiSo in the firestrike tests the core reached 87c. Little too short of a test to give it a chance to climb into 90s and up like in gaming. XTU keeps showing power limit throttling and clearly others aren't seeing that. I'll take pics of size comparison when I get home!

I think it might just be your CPU. Can you keep us updated on how it goes with Razer support? For reference, on reddit this guy managed to hit 15k with firestrike.

pulseCharcoal024Yes I saw that score... if I bumped up my memory OC more I would have at least matched the graphics score although we were very close. My new unit should be shipping out either tomorrow or tues.

How's the sound quality on the speakers?
Also, how is loud do the fans get under load? Is it quieter than the old blade design?

JoikansaiHere are some pics of the 14 and 15.

nc_ptYep my CPU has some issues.. not just thermals but lots of power limit throttling.
So you also RMA'ed your blade?
JoikansaiDidn't even bother... I disabled turbo boost just to see where temps were at and they settled in the high 70s. I messed with a ton of settings in XTU and Throttlestop to see if I could at least get it to stop power throttling but it just wasn't having it.
Did you also test the cpu temperature on 99% max processors state?
Wilderness72It is definitely quieter than the Blade 14 it's very noticeable. The speakers sound about the same as they did on the 14 nothing special there. I wish they did the THX certified ones like on the pro but not a deal breaker.
How's the sound quality on the speakers? Also, how is loud do the fans get under load? Is it quieter than the old blade design?

Wilderness72I'm measuring the same DB readings (~46) on the new blade as the '17 model. Unfortunately the new one still has the infamous 'Blade whine' instead of a pleasant whooshing sound like the GS65. Also, the GS65 was no more than 45db under the same gaming conditions. There are Pros and Cons to each. I'm still evaluating.

StalkyreI mean this out of love, but if you want a thin/light/powerful laptop for gaming... noise should be your last concern.
