this is a pure gaming monitor just exellent
The best comes at a price, but that's definetively out of range for me.

I'll stay with my 200€ 32" 75hz that runs at 120Hz natively.^^
Maybe someone can help cut through my impulsiveness and bring me back to earth here. Keep my CRG9 or sell it for one of these?

So this year I bought a Samsung CRG9 and love it. A few complications that opened the door to me wanting to consider this monitor when I saw it though:

For streaming purposes: Bad choice of monitor. I have to create more scenes, more profiles for add-ons in WoW, and run in a different desktop resolution entirely so that I can stream in a format that won't have massive bars for viewers. Major downer that I didn't consider.

Gaming in general: Not nearly as cumbersome as many warned me about. It has great image quality and it's very smooth in most games running. Making sure games run in 5120x1440 can be a bummer at times but when you find something that does (Doom, World of Warcraft, etc.) it just feels so enthralling.

That said, I'm drawn to image quality and performance over screen size. I thought a 3080 would be able to push this 5120x1440 a bit harder to maintain 120hz a bit more consistently across AAA titles but that's not too huge of a complaint. It performs very well and I'm satisfied each time I play it.

I know the Raptor 27 is overpriced. What makes it approachable to me is 1: Obviously the image quality, 2: My 3080 will make this monitor SING, 3: I'm a Razer addict and want everything Razer if I can so I'm good with the Razer tax, and 4: I find extra value from the base for multiple reasons. Main ones being the RGB and cable routing for all those various ports.

I can't help but feel like I'd be taking a step back in a lot of ways and giving in to new toy effect making the swap from a 49 inch ultrawide to a 27 inch.
If I only saw that "the updated Razer Raptor 27 is now both NVIDIA®️ G-Sync Compatible and supports AMD FreeSync" before I made the switch to 1440p with another brand, with no Chroma RGB. 😳
the price point is quite high.
Hello SkyBill40,

You're right, I just read Razer Care contract in detail.

I'm out of luck, products not included. lol

I edit my message.

Thank for allowing me to correct my mistake. 🙂

Hello friends,

Razer Raptor 27 - 165 Hz is a very good monitor.

I just find a little short only one year warranty, luckily there is Razer Care for added peace of mind. :)

Several competing monitors I checked have THREE year warranties as standard. There's no excuse as to why Razer cannot provide the same before having to shell out additional expense.

Edit:

Razer Care isn't offered on their monitors, so there goes that argument. Try again.

😍😍😍
wish they would come out with like a 1080p or something with not as high specs but with razer chroma and more affordable for younger gamers and such so still razer but for people that cant afford the top tier have something thats good and still branded would help everone consumers and company i feel like it would at least

It's probably the 165Hz panel, I also bet they have great color accuracy but I'll wait for the tests.

The 165Hz panel, IPS or not, doesn't really justify this price point.

Here's what I personally think the should have done, all with Razer Chroma, naturally:

- Decrease the price of the 144Hz Raptor by ~ $120 to be more competitive in the segment

- Introduce a high refresh 4K variant (which is what this *could* have been)

- Introduce an ultra wide model of at least 34” with a 120+ Hz refresh rate

Given those, they'd better position themselves within the market space and appeal to a broader spectrum of gamers than just the narrow crowd to which they are currently focused, that seemingly being the competitive FPS segment.

They'd still rake it in, "Razer Tax" be damned. I assure you of that much and I would be far more inclined to buy one of their displays than not.
I just bought a Samsung CRG9 this year. Yet I want this now.

Stop making things so pretty and RGB-y...
Hmmm too overpriced for me. If it's cheaper than I'll auto-buy it to replace my OG monitor 😂
Too much. A disappointing display of seeing how much the market will bear.
