First off I want to say I love this laptop and am making this thread to be sure I don't break it. 144hz panel/1660ti/i7 9750H model. I let Windows 10 go through its updates then installed GeForce Experience, anything in Razer Synapse I've left to default so far including the "Balanced" power settings and auto fans, and haven't done much on it yet besides install Steam and Blizzard launcher. Not sure if it's advised to change the power mode for gaming laptops.

When I installed World of Warcraft it set my graphics settings to 7 recommended. I changed the FPS cap from 100, to 144 to match the refresh rate. When I play with these settings the game runs very smooth @144fps/1080p, couldn't be happier. But the laptops fans immediately sound like I'm over stressing it. The space between the keyboard and screen area feels pretty hot, only within minutes of playing. I haven't figured out how to get the actual thermals yet during play.

For long MMO gaming sessions is it required to lower the graphic settings and refresh rate from 144 to 60 to preserve the life of this nice laptop? Am I supposed to change the power plan settings? In the opinion of people who've owned a Razer laptop much longer than myself, is it designed well enough for 5+ constant hours of this heat?

Any advice is appreciated since this is my first gaming laptop, and first time owning such a luxury device. Upgraded from a budget 2010 desktop. Sorry for the paranoid thoughts. I don't care about the fan noise so long as this investment isn't melting and safe for a long while

These are gaming machines. If it isn't screaming, you are not doing it right.
Ill test later, I actually have been using a 144hz monitor with gsync and that has made a world of difference.
To spare him, I wouldn't go easy on Max. graphic load, but if possible, one level below it. That way you'll strain the hardware a little less. Otherwise enjoy the beautiful device.
Bought one last year, got it replaced this January 2020 because of a lid issue and it's happening again with the replacement.

The lid opened inside the protective case in my backpack and was burning hot. Couldn't hold to it for 2 seconds. The tech support suggests a repair but I don't trust this product any more. Not carrying that thing in my backpack hoping it doesn't open and freaking explode while in the car or something.

Very disappointing product. Not worth it!

I learned long ago, when my laptop goes into its carrying case, it has to be shut off. I had this happen to a Dell and a MacBook Pro, so this isn't strictly a Razer thing - glad you got the issue resolved though 🙂

I think you didn't understand, this issue is happening again with the replacement unit so it's not resolved.
And for me it's not normal that the laptop opens inside the case or backpack because of the poor material and magnets they used to keep it closed.

This is a 1300 dlls product, what do you mean I have to shut it down before moving it. Doesn't make any sense, never heard of that. If I didn't notice on time that could have ended in a disaster, the machine was burning hot.
