Can’t you change the power limit on Afterburner like to 110%? Or is it grayed?

Is your Razer whispering to you? Not literally of course and not even like Neo is able to see things in the Matrix - I mean when opening / closing programs do you hear a minute and almost inadible background sound not too dissimilar to a ZX spectrum loading? Or maybe a miniature harddrive.
Seems to be coming from somewhere around the S and D keys and only only audible when the machine is fresh and cold so the fan isn't running and ear quite close to the keyboard (although in a silent room it's possible to hear from normal typing distance)
I've turned off the screen chroma keyboard so ruled that out. It's not the fan I think as say when the app is opened and the CPU load increases the fan then ramps up and it's a different sound.

doctorfaustCharging Beep, maybe? For some reason I think most chargers work like AEDs. Charge, Clear, inject power into battery.

bluninja1234Well....the buzzing sound comes from somewhere near the SDF keys. It`s no problem for me because when plugged in I run in full performance mode with enabled fans and then I almost cannot here it. I am glad that it`s not noticeable while on battery.

Just picked up a Razer Blade with the 2080 and wanted some input on the performance I am seeing. Best I am seeing from Timespy is 5710. Even taking into account overclock, my numbers seem quite lower than others on here. Anything I am missing?

As a follow up to my previous comment. With a auto set OC curve on afterburner I am seeing 11785 on fire strike, which is lower than I expected.

Vulkar59Can you upload the results? It’s by click compare online, after running it and copy paste the link here.

Vulkar59Are you limiting Turbo clock? Physical score is way too low for 6 cores 8750H. Try also gaming mode.

Vulkar59I see, there’s 3 mode on 2019 model, balanced is balance between cpu and gpu for better thermal, creator seemly put more power to cpu, and gaming mode put more performance to gpu and probably cpu as well. I’ve 2018 model with only 2 mode balanced and gaming, a bit different since gaming mode automatically add overclocking value to gpu which 2019 model seemly not. So you have add it manually like with afterburner to gain more gpu performance, but note that cpu should not reach high 90ish, thermal throttle area, so there won’t be performance drop.
Thanks for the help. I honestly wouldn't know how to limit to limit turbo boost.
Vulkar59Happy to help, it can still be improved if you want to. But if it has great cpu and gpu temperature, like max on 80ish range and you’re happy with the performance I would keep that setting. 20K Firestrike graphics score is already blow up last year top Blade model 1070mq score with a decent overclocking and other tweaking.

Vulkar59Usually oem (manufacture) setting is safety setting in long run but if you intend to look how can it goes far, you can try searching best undervolting value for your cpu using like intel XTU, usually 8750H is around -120mV average core offset. And for the gpu using afterburner, idk about 2080maxq OC value, my rtx2080 stable on +160 core and +700 memory so maybe you can start from there and running 3Dmark, cpu undervolting too low or OC gpu too high the benchmark will be automatically stopped or sometimes comes BSOD, but not to worry about, Windows would restart the system safely. I saw Blade 2080maxq on Firestrike graphics hits 21K and physical 8750H 16K make overall score around 17K~. It depends all as well on your gpu cpu silicons lottery, some can be OCed higher and some not.
I'd love to see how far I can take the performance on this thing. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys,
I need some help and advise here. I have recently purchased a Razer Blade 15 RTX2070 model, which is my very first gaming laptop and my first PC after so many years. I have read through this thread and watched all the youtube videos and reviews, etc. I am really happy and excited about my new toy, however I am a bit confused when it comes to gaming. I saw a lot of people commenting on how cool the temperatures are compared to previous models but I have nothing to compare it with. I have only tried playing Far Cry 5 so far and on 'Ultra' settings I had an average of 78 fps when I ran the in-game benchmark, which is great I think. However, I noticed that the area above the keyboard gets extremely hot (in my opinion) that it almost hurts to touch it. I was curious about the actual temperatures, so I downloaded and installed the HWiNFO64 program to monitor it. I was shocked to see temps approaching 100 degrees, I do not think that is normal.
I have Razer Central / Cortex / Synapse installed with performance mode set to Balanced and screen refresh rate at 144 Hz. Whenever Razer Cortex is not running, I have the ability to select a power mode when clicking on the battery icon on Windows taskbar. That one is set it Best Battery life, but I don not see this option after when Razer Cortex is running. Which one do you recommend to use?
I have also installed and tried Intel's Extreme Tuning Utility software and ran the benchmark in it (without modifying any parameters of course). I got really disappointing temperatures here as well. Is there something wrong with my config, should I send it back to Razer or am I missing something here?
I would appreciate your inputs. (Sorry for my English btw..)
Regards,
Robin

Since you have xtu, did you also undervolting the cpu? I would recommend it since it low cpu temperature and increase the performance for having cooler system. 6 cores 8750H out of box runs quite hot, especially with its Turbo Boost it may spike the temperature to 90ish, and you play also cpu demanding title far cry 5, imo undervolting is needed, go to advanced setting and set voltage offset to -0.120V (mine btw -0.130), see the difference. Did you play it with Synapse auto fans? Try set to your preferred rpm (me on 4800rpm), on intensive usage auto fans cools the system not as great as manual. And don’t try gaming mode on this title (Far cry 5), i don’t have rtx model but 2018 gtx1070mq has also same cpu, unless you limiting core clock (using throttlestop but performance drop as trade off) or using egpu setting (sharing cpu and gpu Temperature for lower overalls temperature) I guarantee it’ll hit 90ish. Sidenote your xtu benchmarks score is not bad and if it’s without undervolting it’s normal temperature for 8750H.

robin787How is your system doing after tweaking? I should get the same model tomorrow so I will throw my 2 cents here after I have done some testing.
Hi guys, I need some help and advise here. (Sorry for my English btw..) Regards, Robin

JoikansaiThank you for your answer. I undervolted by -0.120 V + set the fans manually to around 5,000 rpm and it really made a difference. I left the performance mode in Balanced as you said.

AntsaK2CPU never went above 94 degrees (before it was 99C) with an average of 83 C. I had a steady 90+ fps during the game.
So how were your temps after this?
