Oh no! How frequently are you experiencing this behavior? Is there a particular program or activity that triggers the issue? Ensure the unit's operating system is updated, including the graphics driver. You can update your graphics by selecting the link below:

Hello,
Yes, there have been reports of some Razer Blade 16 or 18 4090 version users experiencing screen freezes and blackouts even with the latest updates and stock settings while in the Windows desktop environment. These issues can be frustrating and disruptive to regular usage. It's recommended to check for any available driver updates specifically for the graphics card and monitor, as they can sometimes address such problems.
Additionally, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:
- Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date with the latest patches and updates.
- Update the graphics drivers to the latest version provided by Razer or the manufacturer of the GPU.
- Adjust power settings to prevent the system from entering sleep mode or turning off the display prematurely.
- Check if any background applications or processes are causing conflicts or excessive resource usage.
- Run a thorough scan for malware and viruses to eliminate any potential software-related issues.
- If the problem persists, consider reaching out to Razer's customer support for further assistance, as they may have specific troubleshooting steps or solutions for your model.
It's worth mentioning that individual experiences may vary, so it's important to gather information from other Razer Blade 16 or 18 4090 version users to determine the scope and possible solutions for these screen freeze and blackout issues.
Best of luck in resolving this problem!
Has there been any news on this issue? I have a 16 inch configured with 4090 and experiencing freezing (locking of the screen) in windows; unable to move cursor etc.
I had this issue on a Blade 16 unit. Very annoying, games would crash often. Tons of errors in Windows event viewer. I reinstalled Windows, reinstalled drivers, and had the same issue. Returned that laptop and got a new Blade 16, and have ZERO issues with it. Seems like some units are more susceptible than others. Could be faulty hardware?
While I cannot provide specific user experiences, it's worth noting that issues like screen freezes and blackouts can sometimes be related to hardware or software conflicts. Here are a few suggestions to troubleshoot and address the problem:
-
Verify drivers and updates: Ensure that all drivers, including graphics drivers, are up to date. Visit the Razer support website or use their dedicated software to check for any available updates specifically for your laptop model.
-
Check power settings: Ensure that your power settings are configured properly. Sometimes, certain power-saving modes or settings can cause issues with display performance. Try adjusting the power settings to see if it makes a difference.
-
Run system diagnostics: Utilize built-in system diagnostic tools or third-party software to check for any potential hardware issues or conflicts. This can help identify if there are any underlying problems causing the screen freezes and blackouts.
I’ve been having very similar problems for the past few months. RazerBlade16 with a 4090. I sent it in for my second RMA and just received back from Razer yesterday. The freezing problem still exists.
Jacyh, it’s encouraging that your second unit has better results. I requested a replacement but it was denied. I’m calling when their offices open this morning and will ask them to look at this post.
Here’s a couple logs from this morning:

Hey all, sorry to jump into this thread after so long. But my 2023 Blade 18 has been doing this since I got it. Have been reluctant to send it into Razer for repair as my laptop is $6000 and am worried about it getting lost or damaged while being send to and from Razer.
It does not crash in games, which is all I really use it for. My crashes are inconsistent, either screen locks up or black screen. Mostly occurs when the computer tries to go to sleep or turns off the display due to inactivity. Everything is updated, did a clean install, adjusted all the power settings and turned of sleep as per Razer's instructions, but still occurs. The best I have been able to do is turn the laptop into dedicated GPU mode only and it has more than halved the crashes.
Has anyone had any luck?
Curious if it is an Intel issue considering all the problems people are having with their desktop CPU’s?
Thanks!
