Who has stable 64GB experiences on their Razer Blades (any model)?

I was banned from posting for some reason. Here is what I have. 2x Samsung 32GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM Memory Module for Laptop Computers (260 Pin SODIMM, 1.2V) M471A4G43MB1 at Amazon.com

OK, the impression I'm getting is, 64GB of RAM is more likely to be stable with "not bleeding edge" RAM - this could be why HIDEvolution is listing their 64GB custom models with 2666MHz RAM and not 2933MHz RAM. The laptops are also not pushing RAM to 3200MHz by default at least - my machine was shipped with 3200MHz RAM but they are being run at 2933MHz (I have not tried to tweak this).

Just a PSA: I've just noticed the Razer Blade 15 Advanced 2020 model has got a new BIOS update that removes XMP support. My guess is they probably remove the 3200MHz function of your RAM. So it's better not to patch it if you've already purchased your upgrade kit. I guess users like me won't be able to update the BIOS due to this removal.

thanks for the public-service warning! so it seems they're restricting machines to JEDEC-only timings, with Intel restricting everything to 2933 (makes sense, since on my machine the RAM shipped out by Razer with my laptop is physically 3200MHz but it is running at 2933). I can only conclude that they are unable to get the machines to run it stably at anything higher than 2933... it's good to know the maximum limit I guess. People who want more than the shipped amount of RAM can stick to cheaper RAM modules ... assuming those work!!! I still do not have any brand/make/model of RAM that I'm "certain" will work without problems... The 2021 Razer Blades have one model that ships with 32GB, I wonder what RAM Razer uses with that

It's quite rubbish. And apparently they've quietly removed the 1.08 update and restored the 1.06. Someone in the forum has fallen victim to it apparently...

Actually, the bios update is still up but the release note has been removed. I'm probably the one that you saw that fall victim to the bios update. I did a few complaints to razer but no luck. Apparently, they have removed the XMP support because some people had a reliable issue with 3200mhz ram. My 2x 16GB 3200mhz CL18 gskills ram work perfectly fine. ** I DID manage to downgrade it back to bios 1.06 but it was a pain in the butt. If you want 3200mhz, DO NOT update your bios to 1.08 **

Sad to hear that, but thankfully you'd found a way to downgrade it back to 1.06. I've also observed in the past days, Razer Support website silently pulled out the BIOS 1.08 update, and reverted to the 1.06.

Yeah. Good thing that they have finally pulled out the bios update. I did multiples complaints to them. This was a dumb decision from razer to even think that they could remove the XMP support without having us complaining.

I think there is some confusion here in terms of how CPU-Z reports information. You have uploaded two screenshots of CPU-Z "SPD" tabs for your RAM modules. That reports what information is stored in your memory DIMMs, i.e. what the manufacturer "declares" the RAM can do. It does not mean that your RAM is currently running at those specs. You need to look at the "memory" tab to see what speeds, latencies etc. your RAM is currently operating at.

Also attached are my CPUZ before and after. It is now showing XMP 2.0, but not sure if it's enabled? Also ran Prime95 blended test for a while, no issues yet. Can anyone tell me then, looking at my images if in fact the 2021 Base 15 does support XMP? Thanks.

Hi there, I have a RB 15 2020 (early year) Base model, it came with 16GB DDR4 2933Mhz. Same as some of you I have been looking around for compatible ram for my machine without any luck, yet. This thread seems to be my best bet trying to find a definitive answer. I have read all the post within this thread and it seems that most of you guys have PRO models and in these models you can activate the XMP option, something that as we already know it can't be activated in BASE MODELS. My questions are: 1. Does anyone know if I can upgrade my ram let's say to 32GB or 64GB? 2. If so, do I have to buy two ram sticks at the same time? Here what I mean is: The laptop came originally with two ram sticks 2X8GB = 16GB, if I want to upgrade my machine do I have to remove those two sticks or I can just remove 1 and add a new one? 3. It seems, based on the post I have read in this thread that for RB PRO there is not problem using 3200Mhz, but what about for my machine? Do I need to buy ram that is 2933Mhz? 4. Finally, can you guys please provide a link where to buy the ram I need to upgrade my machine? Thank you all for the information posted early in this thread, and thanks in advance for your help. There are only two slots for memory in your laptop. They are already filled with 2 sticks of 8GB. If you want to upgrade your RAM, those have to come out. You can try to sell them but it will be difficult since not many people will find them useful. When getting RAM, most people get matched pairs at the same time because there are performance benefits ("dual channel"). Barring compatibility/stability issues with Razer laptops, you can upgrade just one stick of RAM at a time with a tradeoff re: dual-channel memory speeds. It is supposed to work with mismatched RAM sizes (not speeds), but there are complaints from people that RAM that meets the official specs is not working with Razer laptops, so I can't promise anything. From what I've read, Razer laptops seem quite finicky about what RAM works with them so you should buy from a store that has a good return policy. You are probably not limited to 2933 MHz RAM, in that most RAM that is rated for 3200MHz can downclock to 2933. Razer itself ships laptops with RAM rated for 3200MHz but running at 2933. Since you're not familiar with all these things, your best bet may be to buy from a local store that can help you with it.

Based on the screenshot above, I believe you're running 3200MHz on XMP 2.0.

I also think this is not correct. I installed CPU-Z on my Razer. Razer shipped my blade with 3200MHz RAM that runs at 2933. On the CPU-ID "SPD" tab it says 3200, but on the "memory" tab it shows the real speed (half of 2933). So for his post, we cannot tell what speed his RAM is actually running at because he only put screenshots of his SPD tab, which shows what speed the RAM is rated for (which is not the same question)

The RAM shown in CPU-Z is indicated as single data rate speeds. DDR stands for Double Data Rate, hence the actual speed is twice of the SPD as shown in CPU-Z.

To repeat: Razer shipped out my blade with 3200 capable memory, but this memory is being run at 2933 and not 3200, and can be seen in my CPU-Z because it is reported in my CPU-Z "Memory" tab as being at half of 2933 (well, currently 1,463.9, though it goes up and down as I watch). What I am saying in my post that you quoted, is that I am agreeing with the "weileong" post that your reply to the "Matthewe79" post, that he is "probably" running at 3200, has no basis, since he did not upload a screenshot of his CPU-Z "Memory" tab, only his "SPD" tabs, which report what the RAM is capable of but is the wrong information for answering his question of what his RAM is actually running at. That is why I said in my post:
