why intel and not amd? | Razer Insider

Hi

Why doesn't Razer build And CPU into its computers? Would sound great by name: Ryzen and Razer.

AmD's CPU is at min. as strong, if not better, than some Intel CPUs. To the cheaper and graphic power is here also air up.

Would be cool if they would also make one when introducing new devices, with AMD.

What do you think of it?

Hi

Warum baut Razer keine Amd CPU in seine Computer? Würde doch auch vom Namen her super klingen: Ryzen and Razer.

Was haltet ihr davon?
Intel has TB3 technology for Razer Core connection, and for thin and light categories like Blade laptops Intel which until now provide better power efficiency and cooling than amd is just right choice. So 2019 on Surface laptops line with 2 cpu options AMD can’t outperform Intel in term overall performance and power efficiency, however upcoming AMD mobile cpu apparently made a lot poeple hype due performance and power efficiency. I can’t wait to see the real review and how Intel reacts on this cpu race.
Just my 2 pence. I have always bought intel right back to 486 sx25 (1993) and to me I am not a fan of compatibility and AMD has been its cheaper not better.

I almost thought that AMD would fold as it seemed to be going no where. No competition is no good for anyone as at the very least it stifles innovation.

That has come very apparent that intel has become very bogged down and the AMD desktop CPUs are way ahead of intel. They may be the same at games but 7nm vs 14 and as many cores as your heart desires which is good for other apps.

There's a new range coming soon as well.

Only problem is that the industry is just waking up to the fact that AMD is the way to go that there are certain things such as Joikansai mentioned that arnt supported.

Expect that to change from this year as AMD is now hip.

Whether it's hip, let's face it. But I would be interested to know what AMD can do in a razer.

It cannot be unto the height. Other manufacturers also use AMD CPU in their ultrabooks, despite their very slim design. These ARM processors or smartphone CPUs have already achieved very high performance and are installed in notebooks. For that, you could add stronger graphics cards and take care of its cool management.

The simple answer is AMD does not have the presence that Intel does. These new ryzen mobile laptops are too new and manufactures don't know how well they will sell. If they don't sell then manufactures won't bother with AMD. So Razer is being smart and not jumping on the AMD bandwagon early and waiting to see how they sell. Money is everything and no one is going sell an untested product from a company that has until recent years had BAD products.

AMD has come a long way in a short amount of time so if these AMD laptops sell well I'd be betting by 2021 they will be offered more widely. But only if they sell and make a profit in 2020. It's way too early and risky for companies to spend alot of money on them if it's going to just sit on shelves while intel versions continue to sell.

So patience. Change doesn't happen over night.
Vielen Dank. Das hört sich nach einer Plausiblen Erklärung an. Vielleicht kommt da ja was von Razer.

Thank you very much. This sounds like a plausible explanation. Maybe there's something coming from Razer. They also bring out a notebook with a Snapdragon. A kind of savings version and only UWP apps. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to a competitive fight. So Intel could get something in the way again.

One thing working in our favor is Razer tends to do things before the other manufacturers. So if Razer sees Ryzen sell well they’ll likely be one of the first to make a Ryzen Blade. My money would be on a Ryzen Blade stealth or Blade Basic. Then higher end models to follow.

Intel likely has something saved for when Ryzen mobile picks up popularity. But, the end result will be them fighting for our money. So we’ll always win regardless. :big_grin_:
What does Ryzen give us that Intel does not?

To my knowledge, Ryzen does better on having more cores, but per core processing power, the edge goes to intel. Power consumption is another area where intel outperforms AMD.

On Desktops where you have more flexibility in heat dissipation, AMD can throw has many cores as humanly possible, but with thin laptops that also use a powerful GPU, heat dissipation becomes more challenging

Finally, do you want to be on the bleeding edge, that is Razer seems to have all the bugs out of its laptop line, adding the AMD may very well introduce new headaches. I'm trying to decide between the Razer Blade base, advanced or wait for the next iteration in 2020, yet if that has AMD, I'll most likely settle for the 2019 model.
