Basilisk Ult causes Windows to stop responding

So my Basilisk Ultimate has been working fine since I got it a few months back. However, this week a strange thing started happening. After a few hours in Windows, the taskbar would stop responding to clicks. Neither left nor right registered. Today, button 5 (side button) stopped registering. Viewing the raw data from the USB port indicates that no events fire when the button is clicked. However, I'm ever optimistic, so I tried connecting the mouse another computer. Drivers got installed, and I rebooted. And, well ... The thing's completely unusable. As soon as I connect the mouse (via USB cable) Explorer stops responding to any mouse events. Once this occurs, I disconnect the Basilisk and reconnect another mouse, and the taskbar, Start menu, desktop, and all application windows are still unresponsive. Unresponsive to the mouse, that is. Keyboard remains functional. Ideas?
