Seriously, do the Synapse 3 Performance Modes do anything?

Using: a mid-2019 Razer Blade Pro 15
RTX 2080 Max-Q and 240 Hz screen
32 GB Kingston HyperX DDR4-1666 RAM w/ XMP1 Profile
2 TB Samsung Evo Plus m.2 SSD

I've run every permutation of Balanced Mode, Performance Mode (Max/Min CPU slider and Max/Min GPU) through Geekbench 5, and what I've found is this:

CPU:
Single Core: 1206-1207 across every permutation
Multicore: Min 4470, Balanced 5447, Max 6340

GPU:
Min Slider: 95368
Balanced Mode: 91380
Max Slider: 100759

Summary:
Singe-core CPU performance literally doesn't change
Multicore performance can go up by 1.4x

GPU performance decreases by 5% when the slider is set from maximum to minimum, and decreases by 9% when set to Balanced

So my question is - what's exactly the point of the GPU slider? I measured only very minor changes in heat and performance across the board. As for the CPU - this I get, as it's the primary driver of heat in this laptop (the GPU runs surprisingly cool even when maxed out), but why does the slider only effect multicore? Wouldn't decreasing single-core performance have just as much of a heat impact?
