Emote Mic not displaying graphics

Hello, Can someone help? My emote mic decides when and when not to display my emotes. I record for YouTube so I like to have the emote on at all times. I've fiddled with all the settings and I just feel like I'm missing something. I don't want to think it's defective. Anyways, any suggestions would help. Thank you

    To clarify, this seems to happen randomly. I don't touch my settings. One day the emotes decide to appear and the next day totally blank
