Seeking guidance and clarification on Razer Core GPU compatibility

After a bloated batter replacement on my Razer Blade Stealth from 2017, I also dusted off the Razer Core I bought at the same time (model rc21-00940). Looking to get a solid GPU for some gaming but given these 5 year old devices, I'm not very clear on what is compatible. The "at a glance" page lists a few very specific (also 5 year old) GPUs though doesn't specify why a newer card with a PCI-E x16 interface and AMD chipset wouldn't be compatible. A) Would the GTX 1080 TI be the most advanced card I can successfully use in my dinosaur of a Core? B) If newer cards would work, any suggestions? Assuming a budget of ~$300.
