"Fingerprint hardware not available"

Hi there. So today was like any other day, took my phone to work, used it on the bus, then put it away in my locker as I went into work. When I came out for my break, went to use the fingerprint scanner to open my phone and was prompted with "fingerprint hardware not available" at the bottom of my screen. I've tried multiple solutions including restarting my phone, turning it off for a couple hours, removed fingerprint settings to re-enable it and entered safe mode. Only other thing I haven't done is factory reset which I would prefer to avoid (lots of data and slow internet in Australia). Otherwise phone is been normal and working fine. Anyone know a handy fix?

Have there been any changes to the system before this error popped up? For now, please go to Settings>Security and Location, then check if the Fingerprint option is available. I'd appreciate it if you can send me a screenshot of this particular window. You can upload the image on GDrive and send me a shareable link. Let's go from there. *Thread locked to curb the conversation to PMs.
