2018 blade 15 144hz screen freezes when using a dual monitor setup

Hi there, I have a razer blade 15 (2018) with a 144hz screen. When using the laptop with a second monitor, the laptop screen will occasionally freeze, this happens maybe 3 times a day. The screen freezes completely (just a static image of whatever was on it, no mouse movements), but the system is running just fine and I can use the external monitor. I can 'revive' the laptop screen by switching the refresh rate to 60hz (I'm sure there are other methods to 'restart' the screen). The problem appears to happen only when the laptop screen is running on 144hz. I've tried two different external monitors (both 60hz, connected via DP), the problem happens on both. This happens during regular windows 10 use, just chrome open and a couple of other simple things. Does anyone have a solution/suggestion on why this is happening? Just bought this laptop brand new, sucks having to deal with this right off the bat.
