Razer Blade 15 Advanced 2019 battery swollen

I have experienced what seems to be a common fault with my Razer Blade 15 Advanced.

My trackpad gradually stopped working and I eventually had to remove battery - which is badly swollen, triggering a major concern with regards to my and mu family’s safety.

Issues with trackpad started before laptop was even one year old (probably around 6 months in), but I use mouse so it never bothered me much.

But it gradually progressed to the point when I noticed that it was elevated in touchpad area. I started browsing internet for reasons with comments indicating that this would be caused by the battery.

I had to remove the battery and have been using my laptop wired only ever since and I could not be without it for even a single day so I never claimed the warranty. But I now need portability so it is an issue as the laptop was very expensive and I do not want to buy a new one again.

I have had numerous laptops (various brands) over the years and never experienced this problem before. Some of my laptops were more than 5 years old and battery never failed in this manner.

Can someone please help and advise how this could be resolved?

Thank you in advance.

There are a number of posts similar to yours. If the laptops not in warranty, you can purchase a new one online and fit it yourself. Its pretty easy and there are videos online to help. I replaced mine about a month ago and so far, its been working perfectly. I have a Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model (Early 2021) - RZ09-036 model.

Thanks for your insight. I am aware of the other posts and spare 3rd party batteries available, but those do not seem to be the original Razer ones and even if they have a Razer logo it does not mean they are the real deal. I see those as a potential risk. If I need to buy the battery, I would rather purchase an original replacement battery straighjt from the source (Razer).

Having said that this defect started well before the warranty expired, I just was not aware it was related to the battery and a fire hazard (like I said this never happened with any of my previous gaming laptops). I just thought it was a touchpad problem which is not important to me as I always use external mouse. I am glad my house was not set on fire because of this.

It seems to be a widespread and known issue and I would expect Razer Support would resolve this for me. It is unreasonable that the battery started to fail after approximately 6 months in a laptop that retailed for £3k (I have OLED version).

Here is hoping someone form Razer Support will respond here and sort me out.
