Hey there,

My Viper 8K wheel started behaving weirdly recently, the scrolling is super finicky (sometime after a scroll down, it scrolls back up again without any input from me). I also get duplicated click when click on the wheel (most impactful when browsing, when wheel clicking on a link it pops 3 new tabs). Any one had the same kind of issues ? Any possible fix ?

Scroll encoder dirty or faulty.

You can try spray some air on the left side of scroll to “clean it”.

If you have valid warranty RMA it, of not disassembly and do a manual cleaning with some q-tip.

For duplicated scroll click - scroll button dying, so probably need replacement.

Hi Oxymoare,

Let me assist you with your Razer Viper 8KHz having a scroll wheel issue. Allow me to ask a few question so we can isolate the problem.

  • When did the issue start occurring?
  • Were there any changes made to your system/device prior to the issue?
  • Were there any incidents that happened to your mouse prior to the issue?
  • Any noticeable physical damage from the device? Is the scroll wheel hard to turn or stuck in a certain way?

Please try the steps below to fix the issue:

  1. Clean the affected button using a can of compressed air.
  2. Connect your mouse directly to the PC and not a USB hub.
  3. Update the firmware on your mouse if it is on the list.
  4. Check if a software is causing the issue by closing all Razer apps and software.
  5. If closing Razer Synapse fixed the issue, reinstall your mouse drivers, and perform a clean reinstall of Razer Synapse.

Also, test your mouse on another PC and verify if the issue still exists. If so, send me your device serial number and proof of purchase so I can verify its warranty. We may need a video of the issue. Thanks!
