Razer deathadder essential (2021) not working with Macbook Air M2 (2022)

I connected my razer deathadder essential mouse to my Mac using a usb-a to usb-c adapter, the mouse turns on and even the left and right buttons on the mouse work, as well as side buttons, its just the cursor won't move no matter how much I move the mouse. This mouse definitely works on other devices, not sure if its the adapter or if it will just not work on a mac.
