teaching kids on cyber security
How can you teach your children to use the internet safely? It’s a question I have been thinking about a lot, as the father of five and seven-year-old sons who are already adept with parental tablets and laptops alike. They know the internet is a magical entity capable of answering obscure questions, providing printable templates of pretty much any animal to color in, and serving up endlessly-repeatable videos of startled cats.
What they don’t know if anything about viruses, online privacy, phishing, social networking etiquette, and any other internet safety and/or security issue you can think of.
I am also planning to hire a cyber security solutions to be on the safer side. All my passwords and bank details are there on the laptop. I can't risk it.

Depending on what level of security you want them to have, I've used the Norton Family in the past for my youngest son on his cell phone. He has his own PC in our office and we regulate (via our router) when he can be online and what topics are blocked to him. It seems to be working really well, I think the biggest help was setting up which times he could be online so that we're around when he's on his PC and can see what's up.
Very complicated question because there are so many aspects of cybersecurity that it's hard to point out the most important. After all, it's necessary to mention the best vpn for mac and other things like proxies and tor. It's all only basis. Talking about SSL certificates with children isn't the best idea but a brief description won't harm.
I study cyber security in college, I like this subject. The only thing that bothers me it's paper work. Right now I'm writing 5 paragraph essay and I need to finish it in a week. For me it's a real nightmare. I'm not good at writing at all.

Right! Same thing I'd tell my kids all the time.
This is very true... But at their very age, most of them or maybe all kids don't care at all even you told them already. It's human's nature to explore.. It's better to put filter and other security stuffs.
danielgrahamSo they don't know about the hard part. First, don't buy them devices, it's harmful for children under 12 yo. Second, parental software, you must block some topics of course. Youtube Kids, a good place I think and some gaming area on Cartoon Network. Teach them programing and videogames. Why ? To keep them far from social media. And the most important :NO SOCIAL MEDIA, BLOCK THEM, NO ACCESS AT ALL. I mean it, don't late your kids enter this hell full of predators and sociopaths.
