Razer phone dark image through HDMI

Recently tried connecting my Razer phone (1st Gen) to my TV through USB -C to HDMI. When connected videos played back are shown very dark. Have tried a few different cables and do not have this issue with my iPad Pro 3rd Gen with the same cables.
