Razer profiles not persisting across reboot

Hello, I recently bought a Razer Ornata Chroma and have been pretty frustrated with the Synapse 3 software so far. I can't seem to find any straight answers to why some razor profiles will persist across reboots and others wont? I run both Linux and Windows, and while using the open source versions of the Synapse software ( understood it's not officially supported ) the effects and their persistence across reboots seem to imply some sort of onboard memory on the keyboard. Yet when I load up any profile in Synapse 3, as soon as I close the Synapse application the effect disappears and defaults back to the 'Spectrum Cycling' effect every time. I'm really having a hard time understanding whether this is a bug or expected behavior? Does the keyboard support persistent profiles or not? Are the OpenRazr frontend's doing something that Synapse is not?
