Razer Phone 2 Auto Screen Dimming

Hey all, just got the phone for around 2 months. Main problem that annoyed me all the time is the fact that the screen keeps dimming by itself not only on gaming, but sometimes youtube, or just chatting, auto brightness is off of course. Does any of you have the same problem or better yet a solution? Thanks in advance.

You're covering up the sensor, guarantee. I do it sometimes when I hold the phone sideways. tip to Razer, most apps default rotation on the Razer Phone 2 screen so that you hold the phone with the volume buttons facing down and the power button facing up. This places the light sensor directly under the palm and the screen subsequently dims. Solution? Flip the phone and let it autorotate so the power button is facing down. Unfortunately the speaker is now under the left palm but... what can one do? I'm not sure who was in charge of design here but they goofed.

Where is this sensor located actually? Cause when im watching youtube i generally leave my phone facing up and im not holding my phone and it still dims by itself.

It's the black circle on the right, on top of the screen. But if you aren't touching that then consider turning off the auto brightness feature under settings. That should fix the problem. Thought I will say it has adaptive brightness so if you slide your finger from the top of the screen to pull down the menu and adjust it manually the auto brightness feature will adapt to your preferences.

Oh I don't know then, I guess double check otherwise sounds like a Razer support problem.

Yeah, I have contacted support and they gave me the typical please reset to factory setting and check if auto brightness is on. I saw some posts on reddit that show this problem exist, but a lot more shows that this doesn’t happen to everyone.

It's heat mitigation. When the device reaches a certain temperature the screen will be automatically restricted to how bright it can get to combat any further heat and to make sure performance isn't lowered.

So nothing I can do about it?

Nope it's the way it's designed to be.
