Razer Basilisk LEDs stay active after PC power down

First things first: I fully believe that this has to do with the power management of my mainboard. I know that all or some of my USB ports stay powered even when I shutdown the PC, because when I had a DualShock 4 loading dock and noticed the cable was too short I temporarlily plugged it into my PC and noticed I could load the DS4 when the PC was off.

I already went trough the BIOS / EFI and tried all the obvious USB-related options (usb legacy support, initialize USB on bootup or on OS driver, wake via USB devices etc.) without any luck AND I already opened up a ticket with the Gigabyte support, the manufacturer of my mainboard.


So this is just me trying to find out if there is still a chance this is mouse related or something I can change within the mouse driver or Synapse or Windows 10. Because there is still one question that bugs me:

I also have a Razer Blackwidow Elite connected to my PC and it has a ton of LEDs too. These stay off when I shutdown the PC, the ones on the Razer Basilisk, after a brief off-state, go active again. They stay active the whole night. It's not that annoying actually. Reminds me when I was a child and had a "night light"...:big_grin_::rolleyes:

If anyone has an idea I'd appreaciate any input. 🙂

    I believe not all of the USB ports have the option to supply power even when shut down. Try switching the Basilisk to a 2.0 USB port as those usually don't have power management options.

    It already was a USB 2.0 port. Tried another, no luck. Though this whole thing seems a little bit more complex or let's say...rather strange. Here is what I found:


    • if the mouse is not moved after shutdown the LEDs stay off. It's hard though, the sensor is sensitive by design...


    • if I plug out the Basilisk and plug it back in while the PC is off, it does not light up again, even when moving the mouse of clicking the buttons

    So that means...what? That the ports are not powered? Impossible, the mouse has to get its power somehow. Or that they are only powered when the device is pluged in on shutdown but are not automatically powered when a device is plugged in while the pc is off? This is confusing...

    Well, I guess I'll wait what GIGABYTE has to say about this. The mainboard is from 2012 (old but reliable :D), hopefully they have an idea. ^^

    The GIGABYTE support answered and they were spot-on. This is probably something to add to your FAQ, so here we go. The option in the BIOS is called:

    ErP

    and it needs to be ENABLED. Its state determines whether it is allowed for the system to use less than 1 watts while powered down (enabled) or more (disabled). If enabled things like power-on-by-usb-device are automatically greyed-out and usb ports are no longer powered when the system is off.

    Anyway, thanks for the support, I hope this might help other people in the future. 🙂

    I know you kinda solved the problem but that does not work if you don't have the ErP option (I have ASUS MB).
    Disable Windows 10 Fast Startup, that's whats causing the LEDs to stay on.

    Wouldn't that still be like the ErP? Like it gives power to the board so that when you turn it on it starts up faster?
