Razer Kraken Kitty Quartz - Power problem

Hello,

I have the Razer Kraken Kitty Quartz - USB of my partner currently the error that it is supplied with too little voltage.
The headset repeatedly turns off at increased volume combined with an activated lighting level.

The following troubleshooting steps have already been tried.

  • Tested the headset on different USB ports
  • Tested the headset on different computers
  • Updated/reinstalled all drivers
  • Checked for possible firmware updates
  • Disabled the backlight (The only way to use the device without failures)

As I could gather from some social media, this bug of the Razer Kraken Kitty series does not seem to be an isolated case.

Does anyone have a solution to fix the error?
Is Razer planning a quality program or a future software solution?

Regards

Lukas

Hia Lukas!

You’ve found the problem, its the voltage and the strength of your power supply!
I’ve found a work-around which still allows me to use the RGB on my headset without the disconnecting-reconnecting and the awful popping noises. To think I just.. put up with it for two years because I couldn’t find an answer.

First make sure you have the most recent Windows, Synapse and AMD/Nvidia driver updates installed.

Then go to Synapse or Chroma and reduce the RGB levels to around 50-70%. I have a 750w power supply and 70% works great for me.

This completely stopped all disconnection issues and my headset still glows bright. I haven’t experienced any issues since then.

I hope this works out for you :(

I had this same exact problem and it took me months to figure out.  A powered USB hub is what solved this issue for me.  I’m assuming this happens because the headset is trying to draw too much power from the USB port, as normal USB ports are only capable of handling 5V, and I’m *pretty* sure the headset is trying to draw 6V.  (Pictured below)  Not sure if I’m 100% correct on any of this, what I do know is that buying a powered USB hub solved all my issues completely.  My Kraken Kitty Quartz Pink would pop, disconnect and reconnect, and sometimes just not work.  That doesn’t happen to me anymore, thankfully!  It works flawlessly with 100% brightness on RGB’s.  What you’re going to want to look for is something like this.  Razer won’t tell you this because it’s clearly a manufacturing issue, and the only respectable way for them to handle this would be to include the powered USB hub, but I digress. 😝 Good luck!!!

this issue is caused by the compasitors in the headset not being powerful enough… i have this same issue with a 1200 watt power supply… been dealing with it forever with multiple sets of headphones... my only bet now is having a friend replace my compasitors which will void my warrantee but its about to end anyway… it solved the problem for him and a few friends tho and now they work with 100 percent power to lights and 100% audio full thx with no issues…. so imma see what i can do...

im also getting a pair ov the v2 wired kitty ears to hold me over till then and have a pair with a valid warantee
