Why I've returned my Kraken V3 Pro (proof included)

I recently bought a Razer Kraken V3 Pro and there's two issues that made me return it:

1. HAPTIC SCREECHING/INTERFERENCE

Pretty often when Hypersense (haptics) is enabled, an electronic screeching occurs in the sound. I've recorded this electronic screeching with an external mic and here's how it sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yq9WNbvj6mA

It won't always occur but when it occurs, the only way to make it go away is turning the headset off/on again. The erronous sound you are hearing is not the haptic actuators moving, it's some sort of electronic interference. I know it's not the actuators because sometimes Hypersense works fine without producing the screeching noise. The screeching/interference could be caused by the actuators though. This is something Razer has to look into.

What bothers me a lot is that this issue is being reported for a pretty long time and Razer is still selling the headset. To me it's unacceptable for a somewhat premium headet. Here's some threads and comments I collected regarding the electronic interference/screeching (these are just a couple of threads/threads, I'm sure there are more):

However, the haptic engine isn't working right. Makes a weird "train whistle" sound every time the haptics engine engages. Very distracting. Leaving it off for now. Probably returning these if the haptics stay borked.

https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/sieujr/razer_kraken_v3_pro_hypersense_rattling/
With Hypersense on, I always hear a bit of static, and when the actual vibrations are happening or if I even just tap the side of the headphone cup, it makes a high pitched sound like something is rattling. Even just moving my head fast can make the noise.

https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/sieujr/comment/hvdr5hn/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
Literally 1 day later now there's barely any haptics at all and it's just a high pitched rattling that I can hear... Before it was completely silent and I just felt it, now it's the opposite.

My biggest issue is the haptics distortion. It's super distracting so I have turned the haptics off for now.

You seem to have got a reaaaaaaally faulty unit, I've had 3 sets which all had the one same issue with haptics but none of the aforementioned issues. But granted they've all had the same haptic issue :)

https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/t3fxgg/comment/hysb2xs/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
if I turned Hypersense off and on while headset was powered on, the feature stopped working. Instead of a really cool haptic rumble, I'd get this metallic clanging in both earcups.

https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/rtvp4t/comment/hqvijo4/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
I just got mine yesterday and the mic seems fine but the hypersense rattles to the point it's distracting and sounds bad, and I don't mean it rattles in the way it's supposed to, it sounds like something is loose in both earcups.

2. MINI SLEEP MODE AFTER VERY SHORT PERIOD OF NOT USING IT.

I could maybe live with the Hypersense issue since I will probably just disable it, but one thing I can't ignore is that the headset will go into some sort of mini sleep mode if you haven't used it for a very short time. What I mean for example:

- I play no audio for like a minute (or shorter).
- I start playing audio again after that minute. Now, the first 0.5-1.0 seconds of what I'm playing is not audible.

It's not a delay because when I start hearing audio again after the 0.5-1.0 seconds, the timeline is as 0.5-1.0 seconds has already played. I assume this is some sort of power saving function where it idles the headset if no audio is being played for a while but I can't turn it off anywhere and it's pretty annoying. Especially when you're like editing a video or similar.

It doesn't matter if I turn THX on/off or which of the two Kraken output devices I select. Also, it is NOT the Synapse > Power > Power Saving option as that only triggers after 15mins. minimum and the behavior I'm experiencing triggers much, much faster.

I've tried getting help with this issue, but no reponse in my thread unfortunately. (/razer-kraken-v3-pro-silent-audio-when-idle-for-a-short-time.85399/)

Honestly I would rebuy this headset if Razer could fix or disable that mini sleep mode but for now I have returned it.

Hey there,

I am also having issues with this headset, latest firmware update got rid of the buzzing sound caused by haptic, but this appart every other issues are still present.
Like you, when starting a new audio source after a short pause, 0.5 to 1s is inaudible.
Every time I restart windows (10), I have to unplug replug the usb dongle for synapse 3 to detect my headset.
Sometime balance between left and right is off.
To get a correct audio quality, I have to not enble THX insisde synapse 3.
Sometimes the headset just shuts down, even when playing audio. (power saving is set to disable in synapse)
Sometimes razer central starts but tells me synapse isn't running, and clicking start synapse doesn't work in this case.
Setting sound volume directly on the headset makes the balance off. If not set to max balance goes like 100% right ear and 70~60% left ear. That makes the manual volume on the headset completly useless.

I've tried everything razer sugests, repairing reinstalling, cleaning software then reinstalling, trying different usb port, checking bios usb configuration, usb power management inside windows, sending back headset and rebuy one.... and so on.....
Nothing solved the issue.

At least I can get it to work (or so) by unplugging replugging usb dongle but man....this is supposed to be a pro version at a pro cost by the way. SEVERAL months have passed and most issues are still present...

I’ve had this headset for 2 weeks now, to replace my Nari Ultimate, and i have to say, the quality control for this product is atrocious.

Constantly dropping. Freezing the chroma effects. Haptic button seem to do random selections. And then the charging just doesn’t seem to work. Who allowed this product to go to market?

I advise any of you thinking to buy the Krakens omegle not to. This is not an isolated case.

So did they fix the haptic feedback that gives buzzing sound on razer v3 hypersense? Not the pro one

Literally have the same problem. And what about charging? The yellow-green (it's not yellow and not green, idk what color is it) light is constantly blinking while charging. Even if the headset is fully charged light is still blinking or is it off.
So, does that mean that headset in nonstop charging? Because that is kinda bad for battery. Or is it just light which is bugged?
Thanks for help 😃

Having the same excact problems with mine, have RMA'd it and are awaiting a replacement. From all the complaints with this headset, I'm sure the replacement will have the same problems, but I'll post an update when I get it.

I have managed to resolve most issues by updating the firmware of both the dongle and the headset:

https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6091/~/razer-kraken-v3-pro-firmware-updater-%7C-rz04-03460

And performing a clean install of Razer synaps.
After this the headset would still not detect or sometimes give no sound with THX turned on; what worked for me was going to settings in Synapse -> Reset -> Razer Kraken V3 Pro.

After doing this I had no more issues after restarting my pc.

Haven't noticed the delay in audio sources, so can't say anything about that. Same goes for the left and right balance, as my left is pretty much deaf..

Razer should have fixed these things from the beginning, especially with this being a premium headset.
That said, after I got everything to work as it should, it does give you the headset experience on pc. The haptic feedback is really cool in games, and the headset is the most comfortable one I have ever had.

I recieved my RMA replacement unit a week or two ago and have been using it since. I haven't had any issues with the haptic feedback on the new one, but have noticed other problems. While the problems I'm having with the new one is relativly minor, they can be alittle annoying and shouldn't be there on a 220$ headset.

By far the most annoying problem, is that the wireless transmitter sometimes "turns itself off" and the headset looses connection to the pc. Only way to get the headset to connect again is to unplug and replug the wireless transmitter. While this doesn't occur a whole lot, having it happen 7-8 times in the course of 2 weeks on a brand new headset, is not particularly impressive of a "premium" headset.

Another relativly minor flaw is with the build quality of the headset itself. For some reason tapping the side of the headset produces a echoing noise in the headset. Wearing glasses with the headset and adjusting them is even enough to produce the echoing ringing sound. Happens regardless of if it's turned on or off, and was present on the one I RMA'd aswell.
The volume nob is way too sensitive, often end up adusting the volume when I didn't mean to do so.

Media shortcuts on the headset sometimes work, sometimes not. Pressing the power button:
Single press Play/pause Double press Skip track Triple press Previous track
Single press works everytime, but double press and triple press works occasionally.

Same issues as listed above. I've been trying to work with support about this since I'm on my second headset (rma for the 1st), but they are what appears to be dodging my questions and I'm no longer able to use the chat feature, it won't allow me to enter anything outside of their drop down options now.

Any suggestions would be helpful

Here's what I believe....
The krakens v3s are really terrible....
I believe that soon they may release Nari v2 or kraken v4 in razercon
Buy a cheap headset for now like the blackshark x or barracuda 2021
And wait.....

This is what I am doing

I had my Nari ultimate RMA for this Kraken V3 pro and I hope that it would be better, but nope. Alot of problems, had to rma it and after 1 month of constant back and forth feedback for self repair and diagnose with the support, they finally had to take it back and do a white glove rma. Came back and yep now i have this issue that you are referring to.

First issue was audio delay when increasing volume and some mic static when previewing.

Mic preview static was solved from recent update. But audio delay is still the same.

Got the headset back from RMA and still the same audio delay, with this problem of haptic screeching. And yes, turning it off and on does solve the haptic screeching, but this should be a feature or a problem for this kind of new product.

Thank Razer for making this product.

Im going back to my arctis 5.

It honestly does hurt to see such a good razer product have so many flaws, I had the hypersense version and I wish I could love it. I recommend get the blackshark v2 pro. You can find this headset for around £110 and it gets rid of haptics and rgb but trades it in for an amp, comfort, better audio and a MUCH less hassle free experience. I say les hassle because the amp when on max and min will have an audible hiss. It is annyoing but if u change your pc audio instead, there are no problems.

If you want to avoid razer entirely, I suggest ...
_ Steelseries arctis nova 7
... Logitech g733
.... Logitech g735
... Astro A30

2023 and NO updates on the Razer Kraken V3 Pro. its nice to see a thread with no response in about 8 months. I have had all of these issues discussed in this thread with 2 pairs of headphones now and I am debating on even trying a third. hopefully razer can fix this soon, I had very high hopes for this product, especially since I have been using the original Kraken headset for years and love it. I will be looking into other headsets for now.

I got exactly the same issues as you, but I have tested it on another computer (my corporate work laptop) WITHOUT all the razer drivers/synapse stuff and it behaves a lot better - only for vocals/meetings thus.

The sound quality is less good, of course, due to being not equalized, but the issues of this strange 05-1 sec of inaudible sound was not there...
I'll recheck more consistently

The year is 2024 and none of the above problems have been solved. Particularly with unbalanced sound. I think we should demand from Reiser an official statement about the defective batch they continue to sell (if they seem unable to fix the problems)

Just bought a Kraken V3 Pro to replace my Nari Ultimate and I am more than disappointed, I’m angry. The haptics on the Kraken are beyond horrible. Not only do they not rattle the head like the Nari did, but it distorts the already mediocre audio. I can’t believe these issues are years old. The Nari Ultimate was one of the best headphones I have ever used, and the haptics were incredible. The Kraken V3 Pro, however… is a mess. It’s a massive downgrade in every single way.

I’ll need to find myself a used or refurbished Nari, because I want those awesome haptics back; but the Kraken is going right back to the store. Wish I had found this thread before buying.

Razer: All I want is a new Nari Ultimate with USB-C.

Same issues. Razer will not make it right. They dont even stock the USB stick lol, have fun paying $60 from a 3rd party seller in Beijing. They hate their customers. Still under warranty by the way.
